Mapping out your practice: Islington Mill Art Academy A-B Where am I at now? Where do I want to be in a years time? Everyone has a few mins to say where they are at and where they'd like to be just thinking about this year. What do they want to get out of this session? (30 mins) The Journey What do I want to have achieved in a years time? In 6 months time? In 3 months time? Within each of these areas; Practical - Website, exhibitions, funding Studio practice - New ideas, developing regular practice, developing new work Networks - Meeting other artists and influencers, collaboration Inspiration - Seeing what's going on in the art world, visits to places, Research - Reading time and research, further study All brainstorm under those headings (30 mins including sharing with each other) Going off-route - Experimentation What new artforms do I want to experiment with? How can I evolve my work? Maybe using the idea of the task bag - people write ideas down and pick out of a bag. Maybe we could make suggestions for each other? (30 mins) Roadblocks What's stopping me? Get some accountability, studio time, studio swaps/ visits, deadlines - discuss together. (15 mins) The itinerary How am I going to make this happen? Setting goals – Looking at goal setting through making (collage? drawn maps?) Draw/ collage your journey/ Make an action plan - can be drawn, collaged, written, bullet points including check in times/ dates - can we do this together in a regular session? (45 mins)
