Official Placing 2-3-4-1

Cuts 3-4-3

Reasons I place this class of halter mares 2-3-4-1, finding 2 to be the nicest profiling and highest quality mare and leaving 1 at the bottom for being the poorest balanced. In my top pair, I place 2 over 3, finding 2 to be a smoother made, better balanced mare, with body parts fitting more easily together and more easily dividing into thirds. 2 is a higher quality individual, being thinner at the base of a higher tying neck. In addition, 2 has

Reasons cont’d more tone and definition of muscling in the shoulder and hip, which ties lower and deeper into the gaskin. I do realize that 3 is deeper hearted, having more depth of body in relation to length of leg. Moving to my middle pair, I place 3 over 4, finding 3 to be a higher quality, more feminine mare, having a more refined head with a smaller muzzle and a longer, thinner, higher tying neck with a neater, cleaner throatlatch. Furthermore, 3 has better angulation to the hocks when viewed from the side. I will admit that 4 is wider from stifle to stifle,

Reasons cont’d when viewed from behind, and so in my bottom pair I place 4 over 1, finding 4 to have more volume and definition of muscling. 4 has a more defined pectoral V, with more toned pectoral muscles, when viewed from the front. In addition, 4 is wider from stifle to stifle. I grant that 1 stands straighter, when viewed from behind; however, I criticize 1 and leave 1 at the bottom for having a long back and a steep shoulder, as well as a coarse head and low tying neck, therefore being not only the poorest balanced but also the poorest quality. Thank you.
