Incentives for Being on Time! Starting this week at Takena and Central the staff will be offering an incentive for the students who are on time to school every day that week. This incentive will continue until spring break. The teachers will keep track of the students who are sitting at their desk on time each week and their name will be put into a drawing. We will pull two names from each class to receive a prize every Friday. Please note the following times… Central

Breakfast is served:
Students have 10 minutes to get to their classrooms after the bell rings. Students who are eating breakfast should arrive at the beginning of breakfast so they have plenty of time to eat. For a student to be entered into the drawing, they need to be finished with their breakfast and in their seat ready to go when class instruction begins. We will put the names of the winners in the parent announcements each week. Update Contact Information Have you recently moved? New Phone number? If so, please make sure to share this information with the school office. It is really important to make sure the school has your current contact information in case of an emergency! Thank you!!!
Spring Pictures Coming Soon! Central’s spring pictures will be Wednesday, March 14, and Takena’s spring pictures will be Wednesday, March 21. Please make sure you return the payment envelope or online payment information if you want your child to have their picture taken. Thank you!

3rd & 4th Grade Music Concert, Wednesday, March 14, 5:45-6:45 Join us for an evening of music and story-telling. We need your help! A musical masterpiece has gone missing and it’s up to you to find it! Parents of 3rd and 4th graders: Please bring your student to their classroom at Central by 5:45 p.m. Because they will be moving and dancing, student attire should be school appropriate. All student belongings should be taken to the gym, where they will join you after the program. Music Changes at Takena Takena families, You may have heard from your child that Mrs. Phillips our music teacher needed to resign before the end of the school year. She said goodbye to all the students last week. We have hired a new music teacher who has been substituting for Mrs. Phillips on a regular basis this school year. She will be finishing out the school year for us. Her name is Mrs. Brudvig and the students and staff have welcomed her into our Takena/Central family. Since Mrs. Brudvig is new to our students and staff, we decided we would not ask her to do a music program this school year for kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students. We are cancelling the Takena music program that was originally scheduled for May 10. However; the teachers at Takena have decided they would like to put on a program for each grade level. The details about each grade level program will be determined soon and the information will be included in the newsletter before spring break. 2018/2019 Registration Information Beginning with the 2018-19 school year, Greater Albany Public Schools will use online services for student registration. Please note that registration for next year is not open yet! This is just to inform you that the process is changing. More information will be available soon!
