About Author:
Van Lente was raised by a mystery-loving mother (who preferred Dorothy Sayers to Agatha Christie, but we won't hold that against her) and a wisecracking Woody Allen-lookalike scientist father in what appears to be some kind of genetic experiment to write his first novel, TEN DEAD COMEDIANS, even though neither parent nor the son himself would know it for many years. Van Lente spent his time between birth and authoring Ten Dead Comedians becoming the #1 New York Times best selling writer of graphic novels like Cowboys & Aliens (the basis of the feature film), Odd is on Our Side with Dean R. Koontz, and the gorily funny Marvel Zombies series. He did some other things too, but they hardly seem worth mentioning.

It's the happy version of Iron Man! You know you want that. It has one really worthwhile story, #13, the last of the actual series, which is mostly about Tony and Happy Hogan and is generally fun and full of nice character moments and they fight bad guys together and apparently Tony has a sissy mustache and there are more of my favorite secret identity shenanigans. Whee. The rest of the trade is collected specials. I've only read on This is the last collected volume of Marvel Adventures: Iron Man. It's the happy version of Iron Man! You know you want that. I've only read one of them, because that was all I could find electronically, but I'll edit this when I actually get a dead-tree copy. The one I read wasn't bad - it had Iron Man, Spider-Man, and the Hulk fighting robots, but then directed you to go to a website to watch the ending in video. Yeah, no. (At least, I'm assuming this is one of the ones in the trade.) Anyway. If you like Iron Man and want him to be Not Sad and Not A Jerk, you will probably really enjoy MA:IM.
