INSTRUCTIONS FOR WARNING USE

WARNING WARNING

Do not alter or intentionally misuse this equipment. Step 1: Any tool that you are tethering MUST weigh less than the maximum capacity outlined on your Tool Lanyard. Step 2: Connect the Tool Lanyard to your tool following the steps outlined below: • For tools with a captive eye, use the included carabiner to attach (see fig. 1), OR pull the choker cord through the captive eye, and pass the body of the lanyard through the loop to choke. Cinch the cord lock to secure the choker connection (see fig. 2). • For tools with a flanged handle, pull the handle through the choker cord and cinch down the cord-lock tightly to secure (see fig. 3). Check the cord-lock before each use to ensure it is properly adjusted. • Do not attempt to use this product for smooth, straight handled tools without a captive eye (see fig. 4). Step 3: Tether the tool to yourself or to an adjacent structure using one of the following methods: • If you are using a Full Body Harness (FBH) with a workbelt, pass the workbelt through the web loop on the Tool Lanyard at the opposite end of the tool. Fasten the workbelt and wear as outlined in the manufacturer’s instructions (see fig. 5). • If you are wearing a tool belt or tool rig, pull the tool belt through the web loop on the Tool Lanyard at the opposite end of the tool. Fasten the tool belt and wear as outlined in the manufacturer’s instructions (see fig. 5). • If you are wearing a Full Body Harness (FBH) WITHOUT a workbelt, tool belt, or rig, choke the Tool Lanyard to the front torso strap, beneath the adjuster buckle and above the hip. Pass the Tool Lanyard webbing around the back side of the harness webbing and pull the Tool Lanyard through the web loop to choke (see fig. 6). • If working in an aerial lift, scissor lift, or similar structure, you can tether your Tool Lanyard directly to that structure. Choose an anchor-point that is secure and capable of supporting at least 500 lbs. Use the web loop to choke the Tool Lanyard directly to the structure. Do not tether to an anchor-point that has sharp or rough edges. • NOTE: Never attempt to tether any tool or equipment weighing more than 15 lbs. to your person. Step 4: Once you have attached the tool to your Tool Lanyard, proceed carefully. Tool Lanyard Instruction Manual MaltaDynamics.com | 800-494-1840

When working with tools that are tethered using a Tool Lanyard, it is important to ensure the following: • Allow enough fall clearance beneath you so that if a tool is dropped, it will not hit the next lower level, damage any structure or equipment, or strike another person. • Do not work with the Tool Lanyard fully extended; lanyard tension may cause you to lose your grip and can increase the tool’s fall distance, along with the resulting arrest force. • When working at heights, always follow all tie-off procedures. Dropping a tool that is tethered to your person can cause you to slip, lose your balance, and fall.
