How To Measure for Your New Door or Window Unfortunately there are no “standards” when it comes to mobile home door and window sizes. Not only that but there are differences between mobile and manufactured housing versus stick-built homes. Because of this it is important to know how to measure for your new door or window so you can order the correct sizes for your home. Here is how to measure properly for your Exterior door: The measurement you need is the “rough openning”. This means the hole in the wall without any framing. NOTE: If you are replacing an existing door you do NOT need to remove the frame. Here is an easy rule to follow: All mobile home doors come in even sizes (ex. 30", 32", 34" x 72", 76" etc.). FIRST: Open your door and measure the width on the inside of the frame. width of frame

THEN: Round up your measurement to the next whole and even number. Ex. If your measurement is 31½" wide × 75½" tall, you would round up to 32" × 76" and this is the size you would ask for. Here is how to measure properly for your mobile home’s front door: Again, the measurement you need is the “rough openning” but you will notice that the framing is a little thicker on your front door. So repeat the step above only this time you are going to Round Up and add 1" (inch) to each side. Ex. If your measurement is 32½" wide × 74½" tall. After you round up and add the inch to both measurements it will come out to 34" × 76" and this is the size you would ask for. Also for doors you are going to need to indicate “Right” or “Left”. This information pertains to the side that your hinges are on. Here is a diagram to help you find out if your door is Right or Left.

For windows: The same rules for measuring your doors apply to measuring for your windows. The only difference is that there are some odd number sizes in the heights. *PLEASE NOTE: Magic Mobile Home Supply and it’s affiliates offer these tips as a convenience to our customers.
