Successfully led the effort to coordinate the 14 coastal counties to pass a state law (SB 900) reforming the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) making windstorm insurance more affordable; and for the first time in 6 years home and business owners will not experience a 5 percent rate hike in their premiums. South Texas Military Facilities Task Force works actively to protect NASCC and CCAD, which account for approximately 8,500 direct jobs and 31,000 indirect jobs in the Coastal Bend and serves as the economic driver of 27 percent of our economy. Worked to secure funding for a new Harbor Bridge by advocating for a Transportation Reinvestment Zone which was approved by the state legislature. The Chamber maintains solid relationships with local, state and federal elected officials to ensure sound policies, regulations and legislation to benefit our business community. Nurturing business leaders... Over 2100 students participate in the Chamber Foundation youth entrepreneurship program Lemonade Day. 44 classes have graduated from Leadership Corpus Christi; a training ground for established or emerging leaders to expand their capacity for making a difference. Providing scholarships to college students through the Mano a Mano program for leaders of the future! Providing business solutions through exposure, connection & opportunity...
