MAED, The Alliance, and the EDC proudly announce the first ever M.O.M.(Mothers & Others) March on September 30, 2014, in Washington DC! The inaugural M.O.M. March will be a historic unification of moms, families, advocates, sufferers and eating disorder organizations collaboratively marching on our Nation’s Capitol. mothers against eating disorders
The mission of the M.O.M. March is both simple and powerful: unite people from around the world to advocate for those affected by eating disorders and unify our voices to educate Congress and influence federal policy related to eating disorders. Eating disorders are the deadliest of all mental illnesses. It is estimated some 30 million people will suffer from an eating disorder in their lifetime. Eating disorders are treatable yet access to treatment is gravely inadequate, doctors are undereducated, research is grossly underfunded and as a result, people continue to die UNECCESSARILY.

The time has come for us to unite in the fight against eating disorders and demonstrate to Members of Congress that we are a large, united and powerful force that will continue to fight to raise awareness of eating disorders and their devastating consequences, until change is effected. The M.O.M. March culminates on October 1, 2014, in a day of advocacy with the EDC’S National Lobby Day and Congressional Briefing, dedicated to moms of people suffering eating disorders. Together, through the M.O.M. March and EDC’s lobby day, we WILL make a difference and ensure that not one more precious life is lost to these VERY treatable diseases.
There is HOPE. Recovery IS possible.
