Morrissey WWI Internment Camp Archaeology Excavation Volunteers Needed Where: Morrissey (Fernie, B.C.) When: July 24-August 11, 2017 What: Excavations of the 1st and 2nd class Prisoner of War compound on the internment site. Morrissey WWI Internment Camp is one of twenty-four camps that housed German and Austro-Hungarian PoWs on Canadian soil during WWI. Research excavations taking place at Morrissey are the first to take place on any WWI internment site across Canada. Artefacts from last season’s field excavations are going to be exhibited at the Canadian Museum of History in June 2017. I am looking for volunteers who have archaeology field school experience and are in their 3rd or 4th year studies. Accommodation and meals will be provided.
