Movies with Childcare - How It Works At the Alamo Drafthouse, we strive to provide guests with the best possible movie experience. We are pleased to offer a new option for families - Movies with Childcare. While parents watch a grown-up movie in one theater, children can enjoy a family movie under the supervision of licensed nannies in a separate theater. Parents can order food/beverage for children before going in the theater.
Nannies and Childcare All nannies are booked through a licensed child care agency. The agency interviews nannies, runs a national criminal background check and checks references. Nannies are CPR and First Aid certified. Children are supervised at all times. No outside adults (except parents and staff) are allowed in the theater when childcare is being provided. Parents’ Responsibilities ● Stay on the Alamo Drafthouse premises while children are in the care of nannies. ● Drink responsibly if drinking alcohol. Children will not be released to parents who are clearly intoxicated. To Purchase Tickets ● No walk-ups - you must buy tickets online. Search drafthouse.com for Movies with Childcare for upcoming shows. ● Buy tickets for children (includes $10 upcharge for childcare). ● Print and sign the liability waiver. ● Follow link from showpage to buy tickets for the parents’ movie (regular price). Day of Show ● Print both sets of tickets at home, have e-tickets ready, or pick up tickets at the box office. ● Arrive at least 30 minutes before the kids’ show start time. Stop by the bathroom one last time! ● Go to the check-in table outside the kids’ theater. The nannies will collect signed waivers and give family members matching wristbands. They will note parents’ seat numbers in case they need to contact the parent. ● Order your children’s food and beverage from an Alamo server at check-in. ● Take your kids to their seats and go to your movie. During the Show ● Alamo staff will deliver food/beverage directly to the children’s seats. Children’s orders will be transferred to the parents’ final bill. Children will not be able to order additional food/beverage during the show and will not handle financial transactions. ● If a child has a problem during the movie, nannies will be available to help. If needed, an Alamo manager will notify the parent. Children who are being disruptive to others may be asked to leave the theater. After the Show ● Children will stay in their theater with nannies. G-rated cartoons will play after the movie. ● When the parents’ movie ends, parents will come to the kids’ theater to sign out their children. ● An Alamo server will be available to handle any questions about the food/beverage bill.
