Multigenerational Life Course Studies: A Workshop on the Kaplan Longitudinal and Multigenerational Study (KLAMS) The Howard B. Kaplan Laboratory for Social Science Research and the Department of Sociology at Texas A&M University are proud to announce a 2-day workshop on the Kaplan Longitudinal and Multigenerational Study (KLAMS). The workshop is open to scholars and graduate students who are interested in exploring research possibilities with KLAMS data. The workshop will feature talks by Dr. Robert Johnson, Dr. Heili Pals, Dr. Tony Love, Dr. Carlton Mathis, and selected graduate students who are currently working with the data. Additionally, Dr. Chuck Huber, Senior Statistician at Stata Headquarters, will present on multilevel/longitudinal models using STATA. When: May 19-20, 2014 Where: Department of Sociology, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas Preliminary topics to be covered: The history of the Kaplan Longitudinal and Multigenerational Study An introduction to the data documentation and questionnaires An overview of Dr. Kaplan’s self-referent literature Examples of current research based on KLAMS data Hands-on introduction to the data (computer lab using SPSS and/or Stata) The multigenerational nature of the data. o How to link the data. o Exploring possibilities for multigenerational research. Additionally, a special session around KLAMS data research will be held at the Southwestern Social Science Association’s Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
