Namibia
Fall 2017
Wildlife Aerial Observatory The mission of the fall semester Namibia Wildlife Aerial Observatory (WAO) study abroad program is to assist the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and private landownders of Namibia with the protection of their endangered wildlife. The strategy to accomplish the mission is through research and field deployment of experimental state-of-the-art unmanned aerial vehicle networks. Program participants will be trained to fly unmanned aerial vehicles at NC State prior to the study abroad semester. During the semester abroad students will work individually and in teams with local citizens in Namibia on research projects that protect wildlife through the use of these unmanned aerial systems.
