Narration Text for Project 35. Title: DIY.BUILDING RAID FOR A VIDEO EDITING COMPUTER to increase up the performance ,reliability and data safety of my new video editing computer, i decided to add these extra hard drives and build a RAID ARRY SYSTEM. based on the schematic, there are 9 hard drives, one for OS, and the other 4 pairs are to be connected as RAID 0 for editing area, exports and previews, and Raid -1 for original files as backup.
for cooling the hard drives, there are 2 fans mounted in front of the computer with LEDs controlled through a 4 Channel Fan Controller Circuit.
to mount the hard-drives inside the computer casing, i had to use these broken DVD drives. just using only a pair of metal brackets and small nuts and bolts, all the hard drives mounted basically in the dvd drive bays. the hard drives should be tighten well with bolts to prevent shaking during operation, meanwhile there should be enough space for air flow.
later i will replace the RAID-0 pairs with 2 single SSDs, they are much better and safer than RAID-0. in case of performance. fans are from PC power supply each with 12 volts and 0.3 Ampere Ratings.
i mounted 4 hard drives in DVD Drive Bays, and other 5 disks mounted in the HDD bays of the casing in front of the pre-installed fan.
4 hight quality push button switches for start and re-start of the computer, because the pre-installed switches would stuck often and make problems, so i removed them.

4 longer screw nuts with bolts, 4 LEDs each 3mm in size with 2 power supply fans are installed on this plastic board. the plastic board is the hard type with 5mm thickness.
and those terminals would be connected to the 4 channel fan controller.
here i test all of them before installing on computer to make sure it works properly.
then carefully i used a drill and cut 4 holes in-front of the casing to mount the LEDs and fan board.
for better and tight mounting, i used 3 screw nuts for each bolts on both sides to prevent shaking and vibration while drives are working.
as 9 hard drives with a beefy GPU would make the whole system very heavy, i used these 4 bearing tires to make a wooden cart. this helps the computer to move forward and backward easily while we need to reach to the back ports and terminals.
at the end i had to run a test on DVD drives to make sure they eject normally.
meanwhile until the time waiting to add a high speed SSD for the system drive, i had to use these 4GB high speed flash memories as readyboost to speed up the file reading from drives and speed up the whole system operation.
but after installing a SSD for system drive, windows 7 would no longer be in need of these flash drives cause SSDs are much faster than hard drives and flash memories.
these blue LEDs are receiving power from the 4 channel fan controller and their brightness can be controlled by the fan controller manually.
