Join the Narratives of Culture and Identity Research Group! The Narratives of Culture and Identity Research Group addresses young researchers (PhD students, PhD candidates and postdocs) of any university who focus on contemporary issues, and invites them to a new forum of research. The group serves to promote discussion among different academic disciplines, and aims to provide a framework for dialogue. We strongly believe that interdisciplinary thinking boosts and supports individual research. Research areas include but are not limited to: aesthetics, anthropology, cognitive studies, comics, film, gender, history, literature, memory studies, popular culture, sociology, visual culture. Our immediate and long-term goals are: -

to provide a framework for research and feedback (see workshops) to contribute to the dialogue between foreign language and Hungarian studies of contemporary culture (see thematic issue and translation project) to invite renowned guest speakers for discussion to organise interdisciplinary and international conferences

About the workshop: The first workshop will be organised on February 6 2015. Participants are expected to present their research topic in 15 minutes in English, followed by extensive feedback (15-20 minutes). We kindly ask the participants to read each other’s papers to make dialogue possible. At the end of the workshop we would like to map out common directions that will formulate a common research interest for the group, and based on which we are planning to prepare a thematic issue of a Hungarian journal. About the thematic issue: Following the workshop, we are also planning a thematic issue in a Hungarian journal about a common topic of relevance. The articles are to be written in Hungarian. The expected publication date is autumn 2015. Between the workshop and this date we are planning regular meetings and an intensive editorial process with the participation of all group members.
