NATIONAL SECURITY 2 YEARS MA COURSE COURSE AIMS Passing over of complex knowledge in the field of security sciences (access to which is conditioned by having general knowledge of social studies) and shaping of a critical understanding of theoretical basis of knowledge on social, psychosocial and organizational phenomena and processes. Preparing the graduates for fulfilling various counseling and administrative functions on different levels of public administration. Their main task is expected to be the maximizing of security of populations of local areas through initiation and implementing plans and programmes integrating the existing systems and structures and shaping an environment which maximizes the feeling of security. Shaping of ethical-social sensitivity, openness towards arguments of the other side, engagement and a feeling of responsibility in the work environment and beyond. Realization of a need, and development of the skills for continuous, life-long learning and personal development.
EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS The qualifications gained enable the graduate to find employment in: public administration structures on managerial levels, organizations active in the field of national and international security, educational, scientific academic and research institutes dealing with the security issues.
PLACING THE COURSE IN THE ACADEMIC FIELD The study field of national security belongs to a subfield of social studies. It suits this area very well, because the knowledge and skills gained during the study time refer to the scientific base of disciplines that are fundamental for this field of study: security studies, defense studies and political studies. subject - human communities and the system of relations and links they display with regard to achieving specific goals in the field of group and individual security. Graduates of social studies, including graduates of national security, are expected to display certain skills and attitudes. These are competences, both professional and personal, that allow them to play an active role as citizens in the life of a community, particularly in the time of a security threat. The knowledge gained in the study field of national security has an applicable character. It encompasses first of all theories and research paradigms describing and explaining the research subject of security studies, namely the creation, functioning, change, development and cooperation within the public sector (local and government administration, inspection and guard, scientific institutions, educational institutions, health care), as well as business organizations.
