February 2017 Volume 2 Number 7 Happy February North Central sisters, The love in your heart wasn’t put there to stay; Love isn’t love “til you give it away. Let’s be all about sharing our love for Alpha Delta Kappa this month...sending thank you notes to our officers and committee chairs, participating in the 2017 ΑΔΚ Membership Campaign, supporting altruistic Project T.E.A.C.H in Haiti by passing the hat at an upcoming meeting, reaching out to our ITE students with notes and gift cards and enjoying the bond we share as sisters in Alpha Delta Kappa. The Membership Campaign information is attached. Our 30th International Convention is fast approaching-‐ July 12-‐ 15 in New Orleans at the Hilton Riverside. If you have not already booked a room and sent in your registration form, today would be a good day to do that as rooms are getting filled quickly. What a great month to review membership criteria as a fraternity education activity. I have attached an activity that you can use titled “Touch A Sister.” Let our hearts overflow with love this February!
Jane
Congratulations to the following North Central sisters who have each received a $400 Classroom Teaching Grant for 2017. Lynn Bishop, Michigan Delta

“Strengthen your chapter with new members.” 2017 Alpha Delta Kappa Membership Campaign January 1, 2017-‐‑April 15, 2017
Membership definitely begins with ME! Recruiting and retaining members begins with you and your
Member Enthusiasm. Your enthusiasm for Alpha Delta Kappa will attract others who will want to join you in our organization and remain in our organization. Your enthusiasm and commitment can truly make a difference! Prospective members may include classroom teachers, principals, administrators or anyone engaged in a specialized field of education (e.g. college and technical school faculty). The criteria for membership in Alpha Delta Kappa are that the prospective member be an outstanding educator, have a degree in education or be certified, be actively engaged in education for at least two years and under contract in the field of education. Retired educators who are still involved in education are also eligible. Think of the outstanding women educators you know who meet our membership criteria and would benefit from all Alpha Delta Kappa has to offer! In order for Alpha Delta Kappa to remain a vibrant organization, the challenge is to initiate new members or reinstate former members. New/reinstated members must be initiated/reinstated and all current forms and fees must be received at Headquarters by April 15, 2017. Forms required for new members are: H-‐103 Membership Application form sent to International Headquarters prior to initiation. H-‐133 Report of Initiation sent to International Headquarters immediately following initiation. Form required for reinstatement is H-‐154 Petition for Reinstatement. The membership fee is $25 for Australia, Canada and the United States and $5 for Jamaica and Mexico, plus the badge of choice listed on the H-‐103 membership Application. New members must acquire a membership badge—however, they are no longer required to purchase it from International Headquarters. Current members transferring into your chapter or new chapters do not qualify for the campaign. What Your Chapter Could Win! The December KAPPAN will recognize each chapter that initiates/reinstates four or more new members. In addition, all chapters that initiate/reinstate one or more members will be entered into a state/provincial/national (S/P/N) drawing for a stipend toward the upcoming International convention or regional conference registration. 1-‐3 new members initiated/reinstated = one entry in the drawing 4-‐6 new members initiated/reinstated = two entries in the drawing 7+ new members initiated/reinstated = three entries in the drawing The drawings will be held at International Headquarters. The winning chapters will be notified. The International Vice President for Membership, Regional Membership Consultants, International Vice Presidents of the Regions and S/P/N presidents will be notified of the winning entries.
