New Orleans in Green’s

2014 Vegan-Friendly

Restaurant Guide!

Welcome to the New Orleans in Green 2014 Vegan-Friendly Restaurant Guide! In it, I will share with you all of the restaurants I know about in and around town offering good vegan options.* Who am I, and what is New Orleans in Green? I’m Melissa Bastian, a New Orleans native who’s been vegan since 2006. I love nothing more than sharing my love for this city and its great food. New Orleans in Green is my blog, which aims to provide a resource for everyone seeking vegan food and a great time in New Orleans - whether they’re long-time residents or first-time visitors. Never again should you hear that there’s no vegan food in Nola! New Orleans in Green, found at www.NewOrleansinGreen. blogspot.com, features photographs of local vegan food options, info about veg- and animal rights-related goings on, and other such posts relevant to vegan life in New Orleans. I’m also proud to offer a customized, interactive Google map (a.k.a. The Map) that notes the vegan-friendly places I’ve identified in and around town! You’ll get a taste of The Map in this booklet, but you simply must jump online to experience the real thing – look for the link on the right side blog menu. By the way, I LOVE hearing from you! Adore the blog? (Hate the blog?) Want to suggest more restaurants to be included on The Map? Please holler! You’ll make my day. hearts, melissa bastian

*Various Disclaimers and Qualifications about this Guide: • The information found in this booklet is correct at the time of its publishing (May 2014) to the best of my knowledge. Restaurants can pop up and disappear, or change menu items, very quickly! • There are many restaurants, markets, etc. on The Map online that just couldn’t fit in this guide. The Map also includes options in Lakeview, Metairie, Kenner, and the Westbank. I'm adding new places all the time as well! • It’s ALWAYS a good idea to call ahead and make sure that a restaurant is open when you plan to visit, and that the vegan options you’re hoping for will be available. This is extra doubleplus true during festivals such as Mardi Gras or Jazz Fest. But rest assured, no matter what time of year, New Orleans has plenty of vegan food to offer. Happy eating!

Mid-City

There are those who would say that Mid-City is the very best part of New Orleans. We may or may not live there and own a house there… ahem. But no matter what part of the city you love most, there’s no denying that Mid-City has plenty of vegan goodies! 3 Potato 4 New Orleans (not shown on map) VEGAN SUPERSTAR! Opened in October 2013, owner Jehan Strouse has re-imagined the sci-fi themed 3 Potato 4 franchise as an all-vegan, all organic, all gluten-free, zero-waste restaurant! On offer are several kinds of baked (not fried) potato wedges with a variety of sauces made inhouse, as well as soups, chilis, frozen desserts, and a large selection of healthy beverages. Keep an eye on this spot for community events! Located at 2727 S. Broad near Washington.
