New Quantitative Study for E-Registration System Rami Alnaqeib, Hamdan.O.Alanazi, M.A.Zaidan, A.A.Zaidan, B.B.Zaidan and Zubaidah M.Hazza ABSTRACT— In the age of technology, the information communication technology becomes very important especially in education field. Students must be allowed to learn anytime, anywhere and at their own place. In this spirit, during our study in University of Malaya, we have seen many students, who come to study at this university and do not know how to register and what they have to do, they have to go to registration office to complete their registration process, Many students have spent a lot of time and effort to complete the process of registration manually so this is one of the common problems students suffer from it. In the beginning of each session, usually students have to choose the courses that they want to take, they do that online but there are some problems that they face during these processes because the courses name is not available just the course code and the old information for the students is not available in the same page as well. And sometimes the students need to do updates for the old information and they can not do that online they have to go to the registration office to do it. In this paper we are going to present new quantitative Study for E-Registration System and also recommend future application of the approach.

INTRODUCTION Programming (IIXP) methodology for developing web based systems. In difference to the other existence Most of the published articles are concerned with the methodologies, this methodology is combination of description of some software tools designed and built to different traditional and modern software engineering perform registration systems. The publication about the and web engineering principles. scheme of this system is very primitive, and mostly does In [4], “Enhanced Admin Role of the Student Record not offer a key solution for some weak aspects which Retrieval System using Knowledge-Sharing and may face the discussed propose system. Among the large Rationale Method”, Web development to become a number of published articles, the following survey global knowledge web development, it has taken shows the current researches being done, in comparison numerous steps to improve its information systems, with this project: strengthen internally and externally focused knowledgeIn [1], “ Towards a New Methodology for Developing sharing activities, and foster broader global knowledgeWeb-Based Systems”, Web-based systems have become sharing initiatives, all in support of enhancing the web increasingly important due to the fact that the Internet development and its partners’ and clients’ access to and and the World Wide Web have become ubiquitous, sharing of ideas. Most of universities have websites; surpassing all other technological developments in our these websites have links which its content of history. The Internet and especially companies websites information of a student such as examination results has rapidly evolved in their scope and extent of use, which is not sufficient to show or provide all the data from being a little more than fixed advertising material, required [5],[7]. The Student Record Retrieval System i.e. a "web presences", which had no particular influence (SRRS) has been introduced to overcome the above for the company's business, to being one of the most mentioned problem .In this paper, a new proposed essential parts of the company's core business. enhancement to the role of the admin in SRRS using Traditional software engineering approaches with knowledge-Sharing and Rationale Method is presented process models such as, for example, CMM and so as to be more effective in administrating the student Waterfall models, do not work very well since web records. The enhancement to the system aimed to allow system development differs from traditional the admin to manage student users, manage staff users development. The development differs in several ways, and manage information for two part first part to edit for example, there is a large gap between traditional the postgraduate information and the second part to edit software engineering designs and concepts and the lowthe undergraduate information the proposed system has level implementation model, many of the web based been developed using ASP.Net. system development activities are business oriented (for In [2], “Auto Notification Service for the Student Record example web application are sales-oriented, web Retrieval System Using Short Message Service (SMS) “, application and intranets are Web development in becoming a global knowledge has taken numerous steps to improve its information

Most of universities have websites; these websites have links which its content of information of a student such as examination results which is not sufficient to show or provide all the data required. The Student Record Retrieval System (SRRS) has been introduced to overcome the above mentioned problem .In this paper, a new proposed system enhancement to the role of the lecturer in SRRS is presented so as to be more informative to the student. The enhancement to the system aimed to allow the lecturer to pass more information to the student using auto notification of short message service depend on mobile phone for each student. In [3], “Auto Notification Service for the Student Record Retrieval System Using Electronic Mail Message (EMM)”, Web development in becoming a global knowledge has taken numerous steps to improve its information systems, strengthen internally and externally focused knowledge-sharing activities, and foster broader global knowledge-sharing initiatives, all in support of enhancing the web development and its partners’ and clients’ access to and sharing of ideas. The enhancement to the system aimed to allow the lecturer to pass more information to the student using auto notification of electronic email message by depends on email address for each student. In [6] , “New Quantitative Study for the Student Record Retrieval System ” , Web development to become a global knowledge web development , it has taken numerous steps to improve its information systems, strengthen internally and externally focused knowledgesharing activities, and foster broader global knowledgesharing initiatives, all in support of enhancing the web development and its partners’ and clients’ access to and sharing of ideas .A known problem in university of Malaya (UM) in its website UMISISWEB show a student record for individual semesters which student have to access one by one and does not show it as a record of all semesters in one border. For the above mentioned reason, a new enhanced system of web development using quantitative method is presented. The enhancement to the system aimed to allow the student to view his data record which is Metric, name, member of

subject Grad point total, CGPA as well as session years and semester ready to be printed in one page. The proposed system has been developed using ASP.Net.

2. METHODOLOGY 2.1 System Design In the developing of the system, we use the evolutionary development which based on developing an initial implementation, exposing this to the user comments (in our case the lecturer) and refining it through many versions until an adequate system has been developed. As we can see in the figure bellow, specification, development and validation activities are interleaved rather than separated.

In this method of system, we begin with the most clear and best understood functions and have the highest priority. Lower priority and vogue functions are implemented incrementally, till we build the whole system. Table 1: System Requirements Specifications

differences to provide the basis for more estimates of the level of association between concepts. Furthermore quantitative research is focused mainly on the explanation of the things concerning the investigation of what, how and act. The findings of a quantitative research can generally be circulate and used as a solid base for [6],[8].

2.3 Qualitative Research

Our system of this project provides a description of the courses offered at the faculty as well as the prerequisites and any restrictions for each course. The students in the faculty of computer sciences and information technology in the university Malay allowing registering online courses accessible to students. We specifically consider design features that make our courses accessible to students .current students can register for online courses to register for classes through website , you will need your password (matrix No ) and username (password). If you do not know your password and username, you can not enter. First-time students can register for online courses either in directly or by filling out and submitting the online application Form. You do not need to pursue a degree to register for an online course at Malay University. The force implementation in our system electronic Registration provides the student with an easy-to-use entry point to complete all FSKTM Online applications. Think of electronic Registration as a form of membership. By registering, you will receive a single user id and password that allows you to register for your courses. Electronic Registration is very valuable to any student who wishes to register with the FSKTM on behalf of them. It provides authentication support to the FSKTM Online applications that ensures safe and secure registration, thereby protecting the integrity of your data.

2.2 Quantitative Research According to quantitative research aims to describe or explain the characteristics or opinions of a population through the use of a representative sample”[6]. Therefore, this brand of research is referred to the collection and analysis of data that can be easily quantified [8]. The major element of quantitative study is the measurement as it enables the people to identify the differences between responders in terms of the attribute in question; it might also assess those

The other method refers to qualitative research which is associated with participant’s observation, interviewing and is appreciated when the data of examination are complex and difficult to be quantified [6]. In this case, it is necessary to compare quantitative and qualitative research, differentiate their disadvantage of each for the purpose of choosing the suitable method for the research. In 2.4 we will explain the reasons behind choose the quantitative method in this study.

2.4 Quantitative Vs. Qualitative Depends on the research situation the researcher might either select the quantitative or qualitative methods in other word the decision about which strategy to employ depend on the research strategies[6]. Quantitative researches generally involve more deductive approach to the relationship between theories where qualitative research generally entails a more inductive approach which means that the first one takes the theory as the initial point of investigation and functions to create the observed evidence to test that theory while the second one aims to generate theory from examining or observing in depth the particular aspect of social life [8]. In addition, quantitative research [6] tends to adopt a more structured strategy regarding to sampling and questionnaire creation which are conducted at the start of the data collection, it has been noted that there are no change during the survey, while qualitative research tends to be more open since the exact data of investigation cannot be determined at the beginning of the research [8]. Furthermore the data collecting from quantitative study are more reliable because they have been collected by systematic procedures and can be easily checked by another investigator [6]. The main aim of survey instrumentation is to transform the information requirements of the researcher into a form that will elicit data from respondents. To meet this objective, a questionnaire is developed as the research instrument. This questionnaire has seven questions which includes two demographic questions. The multiple choice questions were constructed based on a theoretical framework of the problem. The data collected

is about:

Table 2: Breakdown in terms of level of study, age and gender

a) The factors that ensure the successes design b) The elements that grab their attention and enhance the course registration website Before the participant started answering the main body of the questionnaire, two personal questions capture information about demographic traits was included. These questions concern the age, level of study and gender of the participant. Their purpose is to breakdown the demographic characteristics of the respondents. In addition, the questionnaires were sent randomly to males and females, in order to have more objective assumptions relating to the sex distribution of the respondents. In the main questionnaire, the first two questions relate to using the recent system. The goal of this question is to find out the ratio of respondents who use the normal using the recent registration systems. The next questions i.e. question two and three identifies the problems faced by people who use the recent system. These two questions give some background about the dimension of the problem at hand. The last part started with a definition to the knowledge shearing specially the FAQ, and how user get benefit of using FAQ rather than spend time asking others on how to register the course

3. DATA ANALYSIS AND FINDING Data analysis and finding is more than number crunching. It is an action that permeates all phases of a study. Concern with analysis should, begin during the design phase of the study, then continue as detailed plans are made to collect data in different forms, in the third phase the focus become on the attention after data are collected, and finally, be completed only during the report writing
