Board members present: Pat Lanin, Glenn Elvecrog, Jim Chamberlin, Gary Bradford, Pete Fetzec(tardy- time?) Members present: Chuck Kneirim, Ray Holm 1. Minutes: Elvecrog mebtioned his name was misspelled, and the motion to adjourned was not made by him, nor the 2nd by Herb. The Secretary is unsure if the last meeting was ever adjourned. Motion to approve minutes with changes by Glenn, 2nd by Herb. Motion Carried. 2.
Treasurer’s report: NFC balance: $595.92 This account has been closed and the balance transferred to Pres Lanin to open an account with US Bank. NFEI balance: $2146.94
3. Newsletter: Lanin reported we are waiting on an article from Elvcrog. Any other articles are welcome including want ads. 4. Marketing: Members are encouraged to work to cooperatively market products. The Coop and NFEI should serve to do this. Members need products to sell. NFEI model was discussed where all members are independent operators, but work cooperatively to share resources and knowledge. 5. Annual Meeting & Brunch: March 3rd at Northland Arboretum in Brainerd. Lanin will work to secure Jack Rajala as the keynote speaker. (update- Mr. Rajala has since been confirmed as keynote) Rajala Companies own and care for 35,000 acres of timberland. In 1996 alone, they planted more than 250,000 trees. To them, progressive and sustainable forest management is more than just a wise investment. It simply is right. They believe better forests add quality to our products, quality to our lives. What Ivar Rajala began as a logging business in 1910 has grown into a world-class, integrated forest products company now owned and run by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
