Jackson Hoang c/o D3 Lab of Nightingale Middle School 3311 N. Figueroa Street Los Angeles, CA 90065 Dear Jackson, Thank you very much for your letter regarding bicycle lanes in Lincoln Heights. It is commendable that you took the time to write my office and let me know that you think lanes on Avenue 28 and Cypress Avenue are important for the City of Los Angeles. I grew up riding my bicycle in Lincoln Heights and Cypress Park and agree that bicycle lanes are critical for the health and safety of our neighborhoods. I have been working very hard with City staff and community members like you to ensure that the 2010 Bicycle Plan is implemented as quickly as possible. In addition to the bicycle lanes you mention, I am committed to projects along Figueroa, Mission Road, and a multi-modal bridge across the river at Taylor Yard, just to name a few. There will be plenty of opportunities for students like you to be involved in the planning process for these projects. I encourage you to continue to make your voice heard as decisions are being made and bicycle projects are constructed. It was my pleasure to come and speak at your school recently and I would welcome you at City Hall especially as City Council is making decisions regarding bicycle infrastructure. If you have any additional questions feel free to contact Jill Sourial in my office at 213-473-7001. Sincerely,

ED P. REYES Councilmember, First District
