 Started in 1964 coinciding with the passing out of First batch of RECW  Active and formal association formed and operational from 1980  Some impetus generated in connection with Silver Jubilee celebrations of institute in 1984  Lull in activities during 19841999

 RECWAA formally registered as a body  NEC, a National Executive council with representative participation from over 17 chapters spread over India and abroad constituted and started functioning  Regular elections. Conduct of bi-annual alumni meets held without break since 1999  Fully registered and active alumni body operating since 1999  Great thrust and spurt of activities of NITWAA started with the 40th Foundation day celebrations and coinciding with the organization of the Silver jubilee reunion of batch of 1975 in the year 2000

 Team NEC -NITWAA with cooperation of Director, Prof T Srinivasa Rao and BoG approved the following in respect of NITWAA NITWAA is the official body representing all Alumni of NITW/RECW A permanent office space provided for NITWAA on the institute premises Contribution being made by students as Alumni fee to institute is transferred to NITWAA as a corpus with interest to be utilized as operational expenses( credited to corpus is around Rs.15 lakhs per annum)

 Permission accorded by BoG to NITWAA to start and operate a trust by name NITW Foundation to channelize and operate all alumni donations through a single agency  NITW Foundation registered  Permission granted by BoG to NITWAA to take possession of erstwhile Punnami Guest House for conversion as Convention centre cum skill development centre

 NITWAA initiated steps to create a separate website exclusively for Alumniwww.nitwaa.in  NITWAA is sponsoring Best Teacher and Best researcher awards for faculty of NITW every year on Teachers day with an outlay of Rs.2 lakhs per annum  NITWAA is associated with and helping the institute in the award of Distinguished Alumni awards every year being presented on 10th October, the Foundation Day of the college  NITWAA ensured the creation and marking of a specific day as ALUMNI DAY in the calendar of NITW

 NITWAA initiated benevolent fund help to critical alumni and requested for 15 needy alumni to be covered under insurance. Bangalore chapter helped in creation on framework.  Supporting & guiding the alumni national and international meets.  Helping & guiding the alumni chapters , students and alumni within the constraints  Financial closures & compliances are shared, reviewed and regularly submitting

 Plans to strengthen and extend the reach of Alumni interaction and information dissemination  Associating and engaging the institute in fulfilling CSR by developing rural habitats in around Warangal  Proposal to convert Punnami Guest House into a state of the art and contemporary style accommodation. Now named as NITWAA Centre of excellence

 Category B: For Service to Society  a) Distinguished Alumni Public Service Award (DAPSA) – for senior alumni  b) Distinguished Young Alumni Public Service Award (DYAPSA) - for young alumni
