The director says the film is based on the Biblical account of Noah as found in Genesis chapter 5 through to 10, however he also clearly states it is not a biblical literal account. As a result some Christians debate whether the movie is worth seeing. Some of those criticising the film have not seen the film but base their thoughts on what is in the media and leaked information. Some others have had the opportunity to see the film and their thoughts/reviews have been mixed. Movies such as Noah can help us in our Christian journey, especially when it encourages us to think about our faith, interact with God’s Word and enter into discussions with other Christians. If you are watching Noah the movie or intending to encourage others to watch this movie for the purpose of Christian spiritual growth and enhancement try the following:

INTERACT WITH GOD’S ACCOUNT OF THE NOAH STORY BEFORE AND AFTER THE MOVIE Before attending the movie read and discuss the Biblical material relating to the Noah, preferably with others: The main Bible story of Noah is in Genesis 5:28 - 10:32. As you read the story take notice of the details and ask the following questions: What stood out to you as you read the story? What does the Noah story reveal about God? What does the Noah story reveal about being a God follower? How is the Noah story relevant for you as a Christian? Also spend some time looking at the other important Biblical references to Noah in the Old and New Testament: Isaiah 54:9-10 Ezekiel 14:12-20 Matthew 24:36-40 and Luke 17:20-27 Hebrews 11:7 1 Peter 3:13-22 2 Peter 2:4-10 Questions to explore include: Why is Noah being mentioned in these bible passages? What do these biblical references reveal about God? What do these biblical references suggest is important from the Noah story? How does these references help you in your journey as a follower of God?  What do you admire about God?  What are these passages encouraging you to confess?  What can you be thankful for?  What do you know you and others need from God? After attending the movie Read the account of Noah again as found in Genesis 5:28-10:32. Where was the movie consistent with God’s account of the Noah story? Where was the movie inconsistent with God’s account of the Noah story? What was in the movie but not in God’s account of the Noah story?
