FOOTHILLS REGIONAL CONFERENCE FOR PARENT EDUCATORS Newton, NC—The annual Foothills Regional Conference for Parent Educators will be held Friday, June 3 from 9:00am until 2:00pm at the Catawba County Cooperative Extension Center in Newton. The 2011 theme is Helping Families Do More with Less. Workshops on the topics Children in Kinship Care; Parents, Kids and Money-Lessons for Life; Passport to Fun; and Working with Immigrant Families will be offered. A resource session will be presented by Family and Consumer Sciences agents Debbie Cox, Toi Degree, Glennie Daniels, Margo Mosley, Ann Simmons, and Eleanor Summers who represent Caldwell, Rowan, Catawba, Alexander, Iredell, and Burke Counties, respectively, and are the conference coordinators. This is an educational opportunity for early parent educators and others who work with families including teachers, social workers, counselors, and childcare providers. All participants will receive 4.5 contact hours of credit. Cost of the conference is $15 and registration is required by Tuesday, May 31.
