Drafting speech. Speech is supposed to be an oral presentation. But ,since you have speech as a discourse ,it is desirable that we must learn the techniques of writing a speech. While presenting a speech on a stage, the speaker has a lot of advantages .Because he could use voice modulations, gestures etc.But writing a speech is something very different. There is a hidden advantage. You don't have to face stage freight. We begin a speech with the salutation and addressing the guests , the people who grace the stage with their valuable presence.A speech like any other discourses need a good introduction.Cathy Phrases, proverbs ,quotes can be used to begin a speech.Great speakers of the world have always preferred doing it.The audience should be led to a definite place and make their journey easier with the right selection of words. The introduction should work as an appetiser. The coming paragraphs could either substantiate a point or explore deeper levels. It would be advisable to use some sentences that would remain in the minds of the audience for long.Martin Luther King's 'I have a dream' reverberates in the mind of the audience.Once the concept is put ,repeating the main points would be desirable because you are helping the audience to form an opinion.Correctly sequenced ideas which are put across intelligently could make miracles happen.A good number of metaphors could make your speech attractive and pleasant .A well- thought out conclusion is a must for a speech. Hence to conclude, a good introduction , which can also include personal anecdotes, unraveling the topic step by step as if the blooming petals of a flower,a tinge of humour statements to keep the audience from wandering astray, more of quotes and facts to lend authenticity, and a fine conclusion with a solution forwarded or personal opinion shared and last but not the least thanking each and every one could make a speech graceful. So keep in mind ,addressing the distinguished ones on and off the dias, the audience ,and briefly mention the importance of the day or the occasion, welcoming the guests on behalf of your school according to the protocol, highlight the achievements and the importance of the chief guest, make positive and inspiring comments about those who are going to speak and also introduce yourself and finally conclude your speech on a positive note. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Your School has decided to invite a famous ecologist o inaugurate the Science Exhibition in your school. At the inaugural function of the Science Exhibition ,you have to make a welcome speech. Prepare the script of your speech. Distinguished chair and eminent guests on and off the dais ,my dear teachers, parents and friends, Today I stand before you with an overwhelming heart to speak ,to invite and to welcome everyone on this very auspicious occasion. This moment is divine for each of us because we are graced with the illuminating presence of the celebrated ecologist Mr.....X who has most wilfully consented to be our chief guest. We will soon be blessed with his inaugural address.I don't think I would ever be able to introduce him with my limited knowledge. But still as all of you know he is a person who needs no introduction at all.but still he has been leading many campaigns and has won several awards which are due to him.We need to learn a lot from him.Science Exhibition ,as we know, for a lot of reasons has got tremendous role in exposing the scientific temperament in us.It gives us a chance to show the world that we think very different. Our little scientists here are very much excited and are sitting fingers crossed. So I wish everyone a good day ahead. Now let me welcome with all due respect this great man to our home.I also wish to welcome the PTA President, Mr...and the Ward Councillor Mr....to this colourful event.Last but not the least I would like to welcome the Headmaster and our dear teachers. Without their guidance we are nothing. My dear friends I extend a warm welcome to all of you to this great function and it is up to you to make this a grand success.Once again I take this opportunity to thank everyone for accepting our requests to come over here and bless our little curious minds.Thank you everyone.
