COMMUNITY NEWS Christmas Faire Raffle Tickets Christmas Faire Raffle tickets will now be available after all the masses thru November 16. If a table is not set up outside after mass, ticket sheets can be picked up at the table in the back of church along with a return addressed envelope. You can return your filled out tickets and money in the return envelope at your convenience by either mailing it to the church office, putting in the box in the back of church mark “Faire Raffle Tickets”, or dropping off at the church office. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Grand Prize is $500, Second Prize is $250, and Third Prize is $100. Drawing will be held on Saturday, November 18 at 2:00 p.m. during the Christmas Faire. You need not be present to win.
CHRISTMAS FAIRE REQUESTS The Faire committee is once again asking the St. Athanasius community for help to make the Christmas Faire a success. Donating is an easy way to support the Christmas Faire, especially if you are unable to attend the Faire. On behalf of the 2017 Christmas Faire Committee, thank you in advance for your support. The Café: The Lunch Area is asking for help with donations of cases of water (16.9 oz size bottles only) and cases of specifically Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite. Donations can be put in the back of church after all masses during the month of November. Donations are being accepted thru Wednesday, Nov 15th.
Ornament Tree: A popular, fun, idea introduced last year. Faire goers can take a chance on picking an ornament that will guarantee to include a minimum $5 prize. Donations of gift cards for your favorite places (restaurants, ice-cream shops, nail salons, grocery stores, or other stores) ranging from $5 to $10 will be graciously accepted to decorate our tree. A “Ornament Raffle” box will be placed in the back of church for these donations. Calling All Bakers The Faire Bakery and Lunch Area would love to sell your cakes, cookies, cupcakes, bars and any other cherished recipe you’d love to make. There is an increased need for baked goods for the Faire Bakery and the Lunch Area. There is a sign-up sheet in the back of church. Or, you can go to the the following link to sign-up: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a044faaa62da20-christmas2 Following health code regulations all baked goods must include a list of all ingredients. Baked goods received without the ingredients listed cannot be sold. For cookies, bars and other small baked goods, please package for individual sale in clear plastic wrap of bags (no foil )

31st Sunday in Ordinary Time Do you ever discuss heroes with your family, identifying by name and reason the people you consider to be good role models and a positive influence on others? It’s a way to point out that people live the values you teach all the time and you can encourage kids to imitate great people. Every day, people all around us do extraordinary things in ordinary circumstances. They help others, make sacrifices, do above average work and go beyond the call of duty. These are the people we recognize and pray for on All Souls Day. I often think about the people who made a difference in my life, especially those I call the friends of my youth. These are the neighbors who looked after me, the teachers who instructed me, the volunteers who built the school, added a library, gave us a playground, those who taught us our faith, ran our Scout troops, coached our teams and so much more. Their memory challenges me still to look for and respond to the opportunities to serve others. In my life now, I must pass on the gifts that were given to me—the gifts of faith, of love, of service and of selflessness. All Souls is not just an abstract idea for a holy day; it celebrates real people who made a difference in my life and I can only repay them by making a difference in someone else’s. May they rest in peace.
