Journeys. Physical Development Many of the children are developing good control whilst using the three-finger tripod grip please continue to encourage them to use this grip whilst drawing, colouring and writing at home. We will be using the big hall for music, movement, drama and physical development sessions each week. Learning to move in a variety of ways in response to music and other stimuli. The children are all very proud when they can put on and take off their coats independently. We are helping them to pull up the zip and some can fasten the zip as well!

Communication and Language We encourage the children to follow directions by listening carefully. We are helping them to understand and respond to ‘why’ and ‘how’ questions. This encourages them to think and explore meaning and reason often helping them to think of questions of their own. The children are given many opportunities to introduce storylines and narrative into their play, often using their existing knowledge of familiar stories and settings to great effect.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development The children are growing in confidence in the setting. They enjoy the routine and are increasingly aware of boundaries. We are encouraging them to develop their skills in negotiating with one another whilst solving minor conflicts with adult support. We continue to help the children learn about a widening range of emotions and help them to recognise them in themselves and others. They are developing stronger bonds with each other and are enjoying working together on a range of collaborative projects.

Literacy We will focus upon environmental sounds and the ability to distinguish between different sounds. We will also continue to learn about rhythm and rhyme using a range of fun activities and musical instruments.
