NEW ZEALAND INNOVATION AWARDS NOW OPEN FOR ENTRIES

In 2015, when biological engineering company Kode Biotech entered the New Zealand Innovation Awards and won Supreme New Zealand Innovator, they never imagined the impact it would have on their business; “The awards have raised the profile of Kode Biotech and it has made it much easier for us to raise capital, which was a very nice bonus,” says Stephen Henry, CEO Kode Biotech. Similarly Glenn Martin, Founder and Former CEO of Martin JetPack, who in the same year won Most Inspiring Individual, muses that “…you don’t do it for accolades but it is nice to have a group of people whom you respect, recognise that what you have done is actually inspiring and useful.” The New Zealand Innovation Awards (NZIA) have helped many organisations across a variety of industry sectors get connected to a wide range of partners, multinational organisations and private investors searching for great Kiwi companies to work with and invest in. From now until July 29, 2016, the NZIA is on the hunt for the next wave of innovators, innovations and organisations that have invested in developing new products, services and ventures, as well as improving the performance of their people and teams.

NZ Innovation Council CEO Louise Webster says: “It doesn’t matter what industry you are working in, or what stage of growth you are at – you may have an innovation project that is still in development, a product or service that you have just launched to market, or a business that you have been growing for many years. Regardless of your size or stage of growth, we want to hear about your contribution to innovation.” NZIA principal sponsor Bayer New Zealand’s managing director Dr Holger Detje says, “Innovation is part of our company’s core values and the collaboration it brings is key to getting new ideas to market. New Zealand is an amazingly innovative country, so I strongly encourage New Zealand business to stand up and enter the awards.” Other foundation sponsors include the New Zealand Innovation Council and Idealog, as well as category sponsors Auckland University of Technology (AUT), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, Chorus, Datamine, Jade Software, James & Wells, KPMG, 3M, ANZ, MediaWorks, MOTAT, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), Plant & Food Research Limited, Paymark, Radio LIVE, Regus, Sovereign, Veda, Yealands Family Wines, Yellow and 90 Seconds. Ms Webster says outstanding innovation can come from anywhere, “We’re on the hunt for innovators and innovations of every description. We’re looking for game-changers across a broad range of businesses and industries.” Organisations, teams and individuals can enter products, services, business processes or new business ventures, across ten industry categories which include; INDUSTRY SECTOR CATEGORIES There are ten industry category awards open for entry, they are: 1.
