U.S. NATIONAL CHEMISTRY OLYMPIAD (USNCO) 2018 Program Schedule

October 23, 2017

First electronic call for participation to local section chairs, chair-elects, and to current USNCO coordinators, including invitation to participate in the 2018 USNCO. Upon the receipt of the completed 2018 Participation Response Form the Local Section will receive the allotment for 2018 National Exam (determined by section size) and the USNCO promotion posters.

November 20, 2017

Second electronic invitation letter sent to local section chairs, who have not replied to the first call.

January 15, 2018

Deadline for coordinators to submit the ACS Local Section 2018 Participation Response Form due at the USNCO national office.

January 22, 2018

Deadline for coordinators to order local section examinations from ACS (25% late fee charged for late orders).

February 8, 2018

ACS will begin shipping local section exams.

March 1-31, 2018

Local sections are encouraged to administer local section competitions.

March 31, 2018

Deadline for coordinators to submit a list of all lab practical sites and nominees to the USNCO national office for insurance policy coverage.

April 2, 2018

ACS will begin shipping the national exams to 2018 participating sections. Coordinators will receive the maximum number of exams allowed their section.

April 2, 2018

Deadline for coordinators to submit 2018 Certificate Request Form to the USNCO national office.

April 9, 2018

2018 USNCO Local Exam with Answer Key will be posted on the ACS Olympiad web site.

April 17-23, 2018

Coordinators will administer the USNCO national exam.

April 25, 2018

The Absolute deadline for receipt of the national examination materials from coordinators at the USNCO office for grading. Exam Answer Sheets must be sent by UPS in the prepaid envelope provided. Exams received after this deadline CANNOT be graded.

April 30, 2018

The USNCO National Office will start contacting, by telephone, the local section coordinators and the 20 students chosen to attend the study camp. (E-mail announcing the final results will be sent to other sections as soon as a final roster has been determined.).

May 1, 2018

2018 USNCO National Exam Part I Multiple Choice Answer Key will be posted on the ACS Olympiad web site.

June 5-20, 2018

Twenty students attend the study camp at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado.

July 19-29, 2018

The 50th International Chemistry Olympiad competition in Bratislava, Slovakia and Prague, Czech Republic.
