OdysseyWare  Program  Guidelines  (updated  5/16/12)   •

Purpose:     Odysseyware   is   an   online   educa;on   program   the   Marcus-‐Meriden-‐Cleghorn   and   Remsen   Union   Community   School   Districts   use   as   a   credit   recovery   and   remedia;on   for   high   school   students   that   are   struggling   in   their   regular   classes.   This   program   has   proven   to   be   highly   successful   in   helping   students   that   have   fallen   behind   in   credits   to   ‘catch   up’   in   credits   if   a   student  is  commiMed  to  gradua;ng.

In  order  to  access  Odysseyware  classes  or  remedia;on,  you  must  contact  your  building  Principal   to   discuss   eligibility   requirements.     Odysseyware   is   currently   limited   to   high   school   students   during  the  school  year.    Addi;onal  seats  may  open  during  the  summer  term  for  6th-‐8th  students   as  skill  remedia;on.    Priority  will  be  given  to  high  school  students  during  the  summer  term  as  a   credit  recovery  tool.

Students  will  be  allowed  to  be  enrolled  in  only  one  OdysseyWare  course  at  a  ;me.    As  one  course   is  successfully  completed,  another  course  may  be  added.

OdysseyWare  courses  should  be  completed  in  a  ;mely  manner  and  within  the  school  semester   ;meline   for   which   the   course   was   assigned.     When   a   course   is   assigned   mid-‐semester,   it   may   be   necessary  to  carry  the  course  over  into  second  semester  or  the  summer  session.    However,  no   course  should  be  carried  over  from  one  school  year  into  the  next.      If  a  course  is  started  during  a   summer  term,  the  course  must  be  completed  prior  to  the  start  of  the  next  school  year.

Summer  term  may  or  may  not  be  offered.    This  is  determined  at  the  school’s  discre;on.

Upon   comple;on   of   the   OdysseyWare   course,   the   building   principal   will   review   the   course   grade   for  credit  audi;ng.    With  principal  cer;fica;on,  the  principal  will  enter  the  grade  as  a  record  on   the  student’s  transcript.    Upon  entry,  that  coursework  will  be  archived  in  OdysseyWare.

If  a  student  has  been  inac;ve  in  a  course  for  65  calendar  days,  the  student  may  be  removed  from   OdysseyWare.    Inac;ve  OdysseyWare  courses  will  be  deleted  at  the  end  of  each  semester.    Any   extenua;ng  circumstances  should  be  submiMed  in  wri;ng  to  the  building  principal.

Clarifica;on  for  Credit  Recovery  Courses:   o If   a   student   has   been   enrolled   for   less   than   one   half   of   the   semester   (45   days),   he/she   is   not  eligible  for  Odysseyware  courses.

Odysseyware   courses   require   mastery   of   course   content.     This   means   that   a   student   must   demonstrate  mastery  at  70%  with  each  assignment.    Failure  to  reach  this  percentage  will  result  in   re-‐assignment  of  the  lesson.

All  students  in  Credit  Recovery  Courses  must  take  the  final  exam  as  assigned  for  the  course.

Changes  to  the  program  may  be  made  at  any  ;me  without  no;ce.
