1) Manuscript Reviews (2): * PLoS One: reviewed manuscript on RoRAGs for Dr. Jason Knott (editor). Decision (first-round) was “revise and resubmit”. Timing of the next round of reviews unknown. * Artificial Life: will review extended version of paper (Burgos and Polanyi, “An Informational Study Of The Evolution Of Codes In Different Population Structures”) reviewed for Alife 14 conference. Rating was a “strong accept”. Dr. Hiroki Sayama is the contact person. 2) Blogging, Fireside Science (2):

3) Blogging, Synthetic Daisies (17): * monthly CoE post (3 total). * reached 100,000 readers on 9/28/2014.

4) Collaborative Projects, DevoWorm: * project presentation, posted to Figshare (with Stephen Larson, Mark Watts, Steve McGrew, and Richard Gordon). DevoWorm: raising the (Open)Worm. Recorded to YouTube. * project is being merged with Google Embryo (people will be attending project meetings in Slack and Second Life). Google Embryo group: Lu Kai, Ahmet Sabuncu, Roarke Horstmeyer, Susan CrawfordYoung, Kyle Harrington, Sherif Sherif.

* project Slack.com space started on 9/28/2014. * microscopy data from White lab annotated on 7/6/2014. * analysis of developmental (anatomical) and adult (anatomical and gene expression) data. Data cleaning and visualization work done in September, 2014. Write-up started on 9/30/2014.

5) F1000 Neuroscience manuscript (1): * development of “Animal-oriented Virtual Environments: illusion, dilation, and discovery” is finished. Paper will be on their website. * received suggestions from Corey Bohil (on 7/1/2014), sent final version to Thomas on 7/28/2014. * paper published (awaiting peer review) and Synthetic Daisies blog post written on 8/26/2014. * 11 potential reviewers provided to Thomas at F1000 (3 initially, then 8 more on 9/30/2014).

6) Other submitted papers (2): a) “Hard-to-define Events: two years on”. Submitted to Artificial Life journal as a Reports article. b) “Lagrangian Coherent Structures (LCS) may describe evolvable frontiers in natural populations”. Submitted to the Journal of Theoretical Biology as a research article.
