Out of this World Areas of learning As Historians we will be studying the history of space travel. We will be researching famous people and their expeditions to space.
As explorers of religious ideas we will be exploring creation myths thinking about how the world began. As Scientists we be learning all about our planet, its seasons, how day and night is created and the phases of the moon. We will carry out maths investigations linked to our science such as graphing our weight/mass on different planets and creating a scaled down version of the Solar System/relevant distances between Earth, Sun and Moon. As Musicians we will be singing space themed songs and we will be creating our own space compositions. We will explore famous space themed music such as the Holzt, The Planets and famous TV space theme tunes. We will listen to these compositions and will consider musical elements such as timbre, tempo, pitch and others. As artists we will be creating our own alien finger puppets. We will use different stitches to create these.

PSHE
As deep learners we will: •Design and create our own Space Invaders game using Scratch. •We will also use apps on the Star Wars site to develop our literacy learning. • Make choices about the mediums that we use in our DT work. • Make choices about how we find answers to questions that we have asked.
For our PSHE we will: • Understand others • Respect people and their opinions • Push ourselves and persevere even when things are difficult • Develop confidence speaking and performing to a variety of audiences • Understand our rights and responsibilities to be an effective learner • Discuss different beliefs about how the world was created and life beyond Earth
Learning Detectives As Learning Detectives we will: • • • •
Be able to evaluate my own work against success criteria explaining what I have done well and what I would improve Be able to give constructive feedback to my friend Show how my learning has improved over time and the skills I have developed Explain how I can apply my learning to a range of situations
Immersion Activities Wow! Children will create their own Star Wars Opening Crawl using the app http://www.starwars.com/games-apps/starwars-crawl-creator They will use their idea for this as a basis for writing.
