DECLARACIÓN

El día 21 de julio de 2017, presentes los delegados representantes de las organizaciones de traductores, intérpretes y guías-intérpretes de Lengua de Señas de Latinoamérica y el Caribe, todos miembros de la Asociación Mundial de Intérpretes de Lengua de Señas (WASLI por sus siglas en inglés) y reunidos en el III Encuentro Latinoamericano de Traductores e Intérpretes en Lengua de Señas y Guías-Intérpretes para Sordociegos en Ciudad de Panamá, República de Panamá, declaran que:

1. Firmarán un acuerdo de trabajo conjunto con la organización nacional de personas Sordas de su correspondiente país y darán seguimiento a sus objetivos. Además deberán enviar el documento del acuerdo a WASLI para su publicación. 2. Fomentarán la formación de traductores e intérpretes Sordos de Lengua de Señas en sus respectivos países y su participación en las organizaciones miembros de WASLI en Latinoamérica y el Caribe. 3. Crearán grupos de investigación científica y grupos de trabajo sobre las principales temáticas de interés de la región en el campo de la traducción e interpretación de Lengua de Señas. 4. La representación de WASLI para Latinoamérica y el Caribe y las organizaciones de los países miembros establecerán contacto con las organizaciones internacionales de la región para salvaguardar la integridad de los traductores e intérpretes de Lengua de Señas. 5. Las organizaciones de los países miembros de WASLI de Latinoamérica y el Caribe participarán de forma activa con las organizaciones de personas Sordas en el monitoreo y cumplimiento de la Convención sobre los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad CDPD en sus respectivos países.

Aos 21 dias de julho de 2017, os presentes delegados representantes das organizações de tradutores, intérpretes e guía-intérpretes de Língua de Sinais da América Latina e do Caribe, todos membros da Associação Mundial de Intérpretes de Língua de Sinais (WASLI, sigla em inglês), e reunidos no III Encontro Latinoamericano de Tradutores e Intérpretes de Língua de Sinais e Guia-Intérpretes para Surdocegos na Cidade do Panamá, República do Panamá, declaram que: 1. Assinarão um acordo de trabalho conjunto com a organização nacional de pessoas Surdas em seus respectivos países e darão seguimento aos seus objetivos. Além disso, deverão enviar o documento do acordo à WASLI para publicação. 2. Incentivarão a formação de tradutores e intérpretes Surdos de Língua de Sinais em seus respectivos países e sua participação nas organizações membros da WASLI na América Latina e no Caribe. 3. Criarão grupos de pesquisa científica e grupos de trabalho sobre as principais temáticas de interesse da região no campo da tradução e da interpretação em pesquisa da Língua de Sinais. 4. A Representação de WASLI para a América Latina e Caribe e as organizações dos países membros irão estabelecer contato com organizações internacionais da região para salvaguardar a integridade de tradutores e intérpretes de Língua de Sinais. 5. As organizações dos países membros da WASLI na América Latina e no Caribe participarão ativamente junto a organizações de pessoas surdas no monitoramento e implementação da Convenção sobre os Direitos das Pessoas com Deficiência – CDPD, em seus respectivos países.

DECLARATION On July 21, 2017 the delegates who represent the Latin American organizations of sign language interpreters, translators and deaf-blind interpreters of Latin America and the Caribbean, and members of the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters (WASLI) gathered at the III Latin American Conference of Sign Language Translators, Interpreters and Deaf-Blind Interpreters, held in the city of Panama, Panama, hereby declare that:

1. Will sign an agreement to work along with their country’s respective national Deaf organization and will continuously follow up with the objectives stated on such agreement. This agreement must be submitted to WASLI for its publication. 2. Will promote the training of Deaf sign language interpreters and translators in their respective countries, as well as their involvement in the organizations from the member countries of the WASLI Latin America and the Caribbean region. 3. Will create working groups and scientific research groups to work on the region main interest topics related to the field of sign language translation and interpretation. 4. The regional representative for WASLI Latin America and the Caribbean and the organizations from the member countries will establish relationships with international organizations from the region to protect the integrity of sign language translators and interpreters. 5. The organizations from the member countries of the WASLI Latin America and the Caribbean region will participate actively along with Deaf people organizations to monitor the compliance of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in their respective countries.
