She has taught all levels of classes in French from elementary to graduate at several universities. An active and well-known scholar in her field, she has authored many articles and books (3 textbooks) and has made numerous presentations both on scholarly literary subjects and methods of teaching French throughout the world. Professor van Hooff served as President of the AATF for Northern California for 9 years. She is a Knight in the order of the French Academic Palms.

Organized French Language Learners' Grammer and Vocab Book By Tam Yi Jane I have been studying French as a foreign language in school for six years now. Yet, I have difficulties in grasping the diversity of French grammar and its slangs. En Bonne Forme is the fisrt book that I have seen that is so very organized and detailed. I strongly recommend it for all French foreign language learners. Finally I have found a book which allowed me to understand and grasp the structures of French grammar. It covers all bits and pieces that would be ideal for my IB paper 2 (essay writing). There are numerous French idioms, slangs, vocabulary, and reading. This is the book that I would recommend for those serious French learners, and for those out there pursuing the AP or IB: Better study this book before your final exams. A different type of book By anne-laure I'm a teacher in French in Adult Education in Reading, England, and used tthis book very successfully in Adult Ed, whilst teaching in Boston USA. I'm always on the lookout for good methods of French, and I always keep coming back to this one. The grammar is very extensive and full of details, and the fact that we have proper litterature that refers to it is a brilliant idea. By aheidema A very thorough, concise and accurate text-book which covers all the bases of learning french. More of a book for intermediate-level speakers, people who use this book should already know the basics of speaking French and should have no problem with basic grammar. Although regarded by many as a university-level text, I was first introduced to this textbook while in enriched French classes in high school in Canada. Although many people describe it as difficult in places, I consider it challenging and don't think that it ever really oversteps the boundaries of the ambitious self-learner. A very good purchase and one that will remain on your bookshelf and/or in your reference collection for many years to come ! See all 22 customer reviews...
