Essential of Accounting for Governmental and Not-for-Profit Organizations By Amazon Customer I ordered Essential of Accounting for Governmental and Not-for Profit Organization 12th edition text book and was not happy with the book, at all. It is really hard to follow and comprehend the information that is being shown. It is very frustrating to try and learn when the text is very limited on the information that is supposed to be obtained. In many places throughout the book, the information is very vague and repetitive. Many of the examples throughout the book jump from one situation to another, without any type of explanation. I had to use other searching options, like you tube to be to complete my assignments properly. This is not my first accounting class and I had a tough time with learning the different accounting concepts that were provide in this book. This was the worst book that I have used since being a college student for over three years. This book really needs to be rewritten in a way that is easier to understand the exact accounting procedures and the proper method of completing them. With a including a better understanding of the different types of accounting procedure, it would definitely enhance the learning experience in a positive way.

By Anon The vast majority of people purchasing or renting this book are doing so because they have to for a class, so reviews won't be a huge deciding factor. However, this book was exceptional enough to warrant one. It's very compact and easy to tote around - considerably smaller than any other textbook I've had. More importantly, the material is presented in a VERY clear manner. I found many of the concepts easier to grasp from the text than from the professor. The examples are very thorough. I love that the Governmental chapters took a fictional city and followed the interconnecting journal entries and statements throughout to better illustrate how the funds tie together. With no governmental accounting before, I was assigned to this book by our teacher. OMG, I thought I was going to fail this class because I read one of the chapters three times and it wasn't making any sense at all!!! I pulled an A in the class, but I didn't rely on the book at all. The material was not difficult to understand (or I might have an easy teacher), but I don't know why the book has to make it so difficult!!!
