Weiter liegt der Analysefokus dieser Einzelfallstudie in der Untersuchung von Interaktionsmustern zwischen Mensch und Computer in einem Callcenter der Telekommunikationsbranche aus mikrosoziologischer Perspektive. Das Callcenter wird als facettenreiche Grenzstellenorganisation exemplifiziert. Über die Methodentriade „ero-epischesGespräch“, „freier teilnehmender Beobachtung“ und „freier Feldforschung“ wird das soziale Gefüge in der vorgestellten Milieustudie exemplifiziert. Eine Struktureigentümlichkeit der untersuchten Organisationseinheit ist der ambigue Spannungsbogen zwischen „rationaler Standardisierung“ und „funktionaler Differenzierung“. Es zeigt sich, dass diesbezüglich informelle Machtstrukturen, die ich „diffizile Devianz“ nenne, geschaffen werden und kontradiktorische Symmetrisierung der Machtbalance erzeugen. Soziologisch wesentlicher Charakter der hybriden Handlungsstrukturen im soziotechnischen System, als welches das untersuchte Callcenter interpretiert wird, ist die Anthropomorphisierung der Bedienungstechnik in der Mensch-Maschinen-Interaktion. Der Computer als evokatives Technikobjekt wird als sozialer Akteur verortet. Die empirischen Daten werden mit theoretischen Bezugspunkten trianguliert, um über diesen Bezugsrahmen hermeneutische Interpretation zu leisten.
