Amazingly useful By MDH This book is extremely useful for linguists, because of the large variation in terminology from linguist to linguist it is helpful to have a professional dictionary that has a surplus of terms and definitions to match. I'd recommend getting a copy if you are a Undergrad, the sooner the better. I am positive you will continue to use it throughout your linguistic development. I give only a four star because some of the definitions aren't deep enough if you don't already have a strong grasp of the term already. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Nothing more than it says By J. Ott Lucid prose. Good examples. Decent range. This dictionary is nothing more than it advertises. It is not an encyclopedia and therefore goes into very little depth. But it does collate terms from a broad range of disciplines within linguistics and has helped a novice like me become familiar with them (if not an expert).
