An amazing story By Kim I first read this book about 15 years ago. When I picked it up and read the inside of the cover, it was so sad that I wept. I was so emotionally moved that I went on to the first chapter. As I continued reading about Dave Pelzer's dark childhood experiences, my weeping stopped and before I even realized it my sadness turned into anger and I couldn't put the book down. I work with "At Risk" teenagers and some of them can relate to these stories. Although some of them are just whiny brats, complaining about their parents and thinking the world owes them something and to stop blaming everyone else for their behavior.
So I like them to read about an individual that really suffered at the hands of his parents. I want them to understand the differences between coming from a home with a loving family that enforces rules and gives good direction and one that is truly terrifying where there is abuse, neglect, fear and constant struggle. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. So when i got on amazon an found the 3 in 1 i decided i would start from the beginning. I must say that i have not yet finished reading it but so far it has been an amazing read. I have never been more touched by a book then i have been while reading David's story. The book has made me sad, an angry an also made me just want to break down an cry for David. The horrible things he was put through growing up are things no one person should ever have to experience let alone a young innocent child such as David. My only hope is that David has a long happy life surrounded with lots of love wih his wife an son. An that hopefully everyone whom reads his story will pass it on so that maybe through reading it peoples lives might actually be changed. Wheather it be an abuser who sees the error of his or hers ways or a victim who realizes there is help an reaches out so that they don't have to suffer at he hands of their abuser. I know Davids story sure makes me thankful for the childhood i had an makes me want to hug my children a little tighter at night thats for sure.
