UNBELIEVABLY TERRIBLE EDITION (Will Jonson & Dog's Tail Books) By Cliente Amazon This is about this specific edition (Will Jonson & Dog's Tail Books). DO NOT BUY IT because it isn't, in fact, an actual "edition" in the full sense of the word. It seems to be simply a print of an html file inside a cover made of very poor quality paper (the cover photograph was well chosen, though). For example, there are no words in italic or bold font because it seems the formatting does not support it. The footnotes are not on the bottom of the pages, they appear exactly like this.* [* Footnote: Just like that, in the middle of the text. ] When a chapter ends and a new one begins, there isn't even a change of page, it simply goes as follows. Chapter 2 Exactly like that. No different fonts for "Chapter" either. There is no indenting the paragraphs, you
simply skip a line. The text isn't even justified. In the end, if you buy this edition you will be reading Homage To Catalonia as if someone had copy-pasted the whole book in a comment on facebook. It is VERY unpleasant. It raised my political awareness about the Spanish Civil War and human nature. The tale Orwell has to tell is relentlessly depressing and frequently shocking. Soldiers are rushed into battle with little training and fewer weapons. Idealists take charge and murder innocents on the slightest of pretexts. The weather is terrible, the food worse and despite the optimism of the troops, one feels they know there is little chance of beating Franco. It comes alive when he explains what went on politically in Barcelona although he suggests that you skip those bits if you want to. Without them, it would not have been an interesting read for me. This book was immeasurably enhanced by going on a Civil War tour in Barcelona last month. The two experiences together were an absolute highlight for me of history coming alive.
