By GRK_Astronomer You have to have been a certain age to have placed a high level of enjoyment on reading and using books like "The TRS-80 Model 100 Portable Computer: A Complete Step-By-Step Learner's Manual" by David Lien. That was the period of time in the late 70's and early 80s ... the dawning of the personal computer era when Kim's, Pets, Trash-80s. Apple II reigned on Earth and steadily fed the hungered computer masses that were thrilled and amazed at the power of these devices despite being surpassed only a short time later as the evolution continued. One of the all-star writer's of Radio Shack User Manuals and support books was David Lien. The books were always educational, short and to the point about the machines, and chucked full of humorous drawings well before Dummies were ever published. He was a great writer and it is a shame that the books published today have become so terse, dry, and unimaginative as they have today when looking at today's personal computers, software, and programming concepts. Parochial ... yes, maybe ... but, I never saw a person who had read his books that did not excel at learning and programming.
