(Nearly) Perfect for its intended audience and excellent for a couple of others By Steve Colletti This book perfectly achieves its goal of educating "newcomers to the field (both civilian and military), news media, decision-makers and anyone with an interest in this powerful military capability". It is also an excellent resource for people new to the defense 'world', and a worthwhile refresher for those who've been at it for a while. The book is a quick and easy read with just the right amount of acronyms, jargon and explanation. Each chapter introduces the reader to a simple, easy to understand concept. Details are added, and the overall view expanded, allowing the reader to quickly see how contradictory requirements/needs can make achieving desired goals significantly more complex. I had one minor disappointment in an otherwise comprehensive book... Given the coverage and scope of this book (it evens includes a section on weapon system development - perfect for new aerospace engineers!), I kept expecting to find more detail on the job Targeteers do - how and why each of their decisions are made, the competing demands and the trades they have to make.
