Pyramid Lake, Nv By Dan Mathis Good book that covers all the basics. I actually fished this lake while reading the book - in about 40 hours of fishing I caught (and released) over 100 beautiful Lahontan cutts that averaged apx 18" with the big one reaching 27". This place is the "real deal" and this book will prove very useful in navigating the fishing spots and gearing up to catch the fish. Dated but solid information By Bobandy I purchased this book in anticipation of a trip I took to Pyramid Lake a few weeks ago. The information was generally good, but when the book was written, nymphing under an indicator was not yet a widely used tactic on Pyramid. It is now. In fact, during my 3 days of fishing, I caught all my fish on nymphs under indicators and didn't even get a bite using wooly worms and beetles (though others did). This book has good maps with labels explaining all the locations and is a great intro to the lake, its history, and the methods you can employ to catch the legendary Lahontan cutthroat. Supplement this reading with some internet searches, and you'll be all set. For a person (like me) who's never fished Pyramid before, this book is extremely useful as a starting point and the information on the biology of Lahontans and their history is very useful and ineteresting.
