The professor was organized and entertaining, and I will look for more of his lectures. 4 of 21 people found the following review helpful. How biased is it? By John Professor Bucholz's interpretation of the American Revolution in regard to Britain is twisted and comes near to becoming absurd. Contrary to what he states the loss of the American colonies to the British Empire was huge; Britain has since descended from the greatest Empire in history to a second rate county; Ironically their present way of life became almost entirely dependent on the aid of America which was given for reasons of our own balance of power objectives. His argument that American's were merely like "little Englanders' (not his term) before our Revolution and that our treatment was just a British 'mistake' is likewise quite weird. Washington, our patriots and eventually a majority of our people soon realized too well that American leaders would never be treated like full British 'upper class' Englishmen and be allowed to rule no matter what their possessions and accomplishments. To the royals and upper class in England at that time our nation was simply a lower class group of clerks at best and workers and slaves as generally. It is true that soon after losing the 'colonies' Britain outlawed slavery. But the Empire held India, an inexhaustible supply of workers and soliiers: Britain came to accept India's caste system where millions lived as untouchables in conditions at least rivaling our own devilish institution of slavery which Britain later toyed with closing its eyes about during our Civil War.
