It's convenient for the bathtub By Oh Brother My husband and I purchased this for our bathroom. He reads in the shower, I read in the tub. This book really is fully waterproof. The text you see on the cover in Amazon's product image is a wrapper that comes on the book. We discarded that and the cover is more of the same dirt pattern all the way down. The spine has the same pattern and the name of the book. The Sportsman's edition (which we chose because we liked the cover better than the other two cover options) has some essays and particular references in the front that refer to hunting/fishing. We weren't particularly interested in that, but the essays seem to be in good taste and would
probably be inspirational for hunters. The bible text itself is in a readable size and font, with very limited footnotes at the bottom of each page, making it easy to read without distractions. This book is heavy, and it sinks in water. According to the care instructions inside the book, oily products (bug spray, etc) need to be kept away from it because they will dissolve the ink on the pages. The pages tend to stick together when wet, but with a bit of work they can still be separated. The instructions suggest to dry the book by standing it on the spine with pages up. This tends to get the book mostly dry but there is often some remaining moisture between some of the pages. I have had it for a few weeks and haven't noticed any problems, but I worry that germs or even mold could grow in the moisture if it doesn't get completely dry every so often. I suppose time will tell in that department. Overall, I would be happy to recommend this book to a friend either for outdoor use or for bathroom/kitchen/etc use. Spills wipe right off the pages, and it's great to have a bible I can read in the tub without worry. 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Cover needed By Edward J. Daly I've gotten grime on some of the pages and as I hoped it cleaned right up. I use it as my "For work bible", having it lay on the floor of my utility van. The only problem is the outer cover scratches when it slides around...leading to the need of a cloth cover to protect it like most bibles. But other then that this bible was made to take a beating and is perfect for any blue collar working person.
