Davis An outstanding, and devastating critique of Christian feminists' support of the ordination of women to the pastorate. Kirk conclusively shows the utterly ahistorical projection of secular, Enlightenment egalitarian assumptions onto the New Testament, and the earliest Church Fathers. Christian feminists must first assume the justness of feminism--and then read it into the Bible, and the early centuries of the Church--as a fair assessment of the evidence shows female leadership over men in orthodox Christianity--just was not there. There was no "golden age" of egalitarian leadership, either called for by the New Testament, or practiced in history, to which we must return....and pretending that there was just makes for willingly ignorant pretenses to scholarship. feminists are correct to honestly access historic, biblical Christianity as antithetical to their cause.
