Their connection was instant, passionate and so strong.
I fell hard for Lucas. There is something so extremely special about that man that words cannot describe. He sweet, thoughtful, sexy, charming, passionate...and so on. The moment he meets Mia things will never be the same, he just doesn't know it yet. Mia...this woman has been through so much. But decides to take the leap of fair and head to Paris after her failed relationship and wedding. Though she finds it difficult she can't pass up and opportunity to see Paris, a dream she has had for as long as she can remember. I loved when Mia and Lucas me in the bar. Even with the revelations that Mia was coming to and the hard time she was having, something about Lucas caught her eye. And Lucas was just as enamored. Even being total strangers Lucas offers t be Mia's tour guide and Mia willingly accepts. Little do they know that after that initial meeting nothing would ever quite be the same. Seeing Mia and Lucas explore Paris and how they interact with each other was a lovely sight. Their connection was undeniable. From beginning to end their connection was strong. Whether in Paris or at the Count's estate the chemistry was off the charts! I absolutely loved their story, their instant connection. Their was just something so special and captivating that I couldn't put the book down! A huge 5 stars for my first Melanie Harlow book. It introduced me to the wonder that is Melanie Harlow. 2. Complex characters that are not at all cookie cutter or traditional. 3. Hot, hot, hot! 4. Paris. Effing. France. 5. Did I mention it was HOT?! I f*#$ing love Melanie Harlow, and this is the book that started it all. The very first page, with Mia and her hilarious lists, sucked me in. Most people read romance because they want a new book boyfriend, but not me. I'm always looking for a new girl crush, and more than a year after I read this book, Mia still sets the bar really high. She's funny, she's smart, she's flawed, and she's REAL. So real that she all but jumps from the page. I totally identified with her obsessive planning and her stubbornness, and I really admired her ultimate willingness to push herself outside her comfort zone and take a leap on the unknown. She showed true growth, and that's tough to do. And Lucas. Swoon. Scruffy, shaggy, dirty-mouthed Lucas was that book boyfriend that, like Mia, I totally wasn't looking for, but ended up loving. I love the way we see Paris through his eyes and ears and mind, and how he, too, steps outside his box, even if it is kicking and screaming. In the year plus since I've read it, it's still in my top faves, and it's the one book I recommend over and over again. Seriously. Guys. It's free, and it's amazing. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Sweet, Sexy Read By Seb Krugler So Mia Devine's been dumped, and winds up in France (where she was to honeymoon) alone. Irritable by seeing all the romance around her in Paris, she winds up in a bar where she meets scruffy Lucas Fournier, who ends up offering to show her around Paris. Romance ensues, and it's very sweet. It's even funny in some places. Especially in the one place where Mia shouts about how much she loves Paris. Read the book, you'll understand what I mean. The sexy bits were definitely sexy, and the characters were fun. It was a little predictable in places, but it fit in okay with the story, so I didn't mind. I don't know how the hero and heroine are going to make things work in the long run, but I'm definitely rooting for them after this. I'd have liked a bit more of a resolution (although there is a novella called "Yanked" set after this that stars these two that I could read if I wanted to... but the reviews have scared me off of that, so I most likely won't be reading it), but I'll take what I've got here and enjoy it. I probably wouldn't have been able to be friends with Mia in real life, but reading about her was good fun. And the book is currently free, so what do you have to lose?
