Fun Pathfinder/D&D Accessory By CB I'm planning on running the Pathfinder adventure path Curse of the Crimson Throne with my gaming crew and, since Harrow Cards play a big part in that adventure, thought I'd pick up a deck. It's a nice accessory that you can use in Pathfinder and D&D both, and I think my players will love it.
Basically, you're supposed to use it to tell your character's fortunes - detailed directions come with the deck. The deck is 54 cards, including some glossy note cards so you can keep track of your player's fortunes for the game. They are standard playing-card size - don't let the dimensions of the item picture fool you - not tarot size, which disappointed me a little, but not much. The art on the cards is similar to that on the box for the cards - stylishly cartoony, but with a edge and look similar to Mike Mignola's work on his Hellboy comic. They range from the goofy to the downright creepy and will no doubt add great flavor to your game. These cards can also be used to play a Pathfinder card game - in all, these are basically a very nice version of D&D's 3-Dragon Ante cards, but more useful and interesting. 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Very Nice Pathfinder RPG game aid By ThomasBJJ This deck features prominently in the Pathfinder RPG campaign world. It is a key component for the 2nd Pathfinder Adventure Path: Curse of the Crimson Throne, the 4th part (Pathfinder 10, I believe) also has rules for using the Harrow deck as a Pathfinder version of the "Deck of Many Things". Three gripes: 1. Minor... as noted in the other review, the art work is a little cartoon-like. It is the same artist, and art-style as "Downer" from Dungeon Magazine. It does work well for this deck though, and this is probably the best art work I've seen from this artist. I like it on this deck. 2. Minor...again. The packaging, as noted in the other review, is worthless to store the deck once it's opened. 3. Major...to me anyways. The artwork on the card back. Instead of having a nice design on the back, like oh... I don't know, every other set of playing cards and tarot cards, this one has the "Harrow" logo and "fortune teller" picture from the cover of the box. See the picture of the product at the top left side of the page? THAT is the card back. ?? Why?? That is lame. Pretty good cards By Max Christoffel While I picked this deck up to spice up my pathfinder campaign, I've found it to be much more than just a campaign aid. Frankly, I've fallen in love a little bit with cards since I picked this up, and I've learned a few basic card tricks to wow my players. When the cards have such a huge focus in the Curse of the Crimson throne, it really pays to be able to grab a specific card and warn your players without going right out and saying things. The art is amazing, and I'm very glad of my purchase. They're also made of pretty tough stuff... I've been worried about bending the cards a couple of times, but it hasn't happened yet. However, they aren't perfect. The gripes that many seem to have with the cards-- mainly that the back is too cluttered-- remains very true. that varisian fortune-teller is on every single card, and begins to seem slightly annoying after a few readings. I've come to think of her as Esmeralda, the slightly-annoying spirit that dwells within the cards, and she somewhat bugs me. All in all, though,
