By MomofTwoBoysi I have read books 1 - 18 in the Forever and Always Series, including the prequel. I am going to write my review based on the entire series, not each and every book. Let’s start with the good parts. The story itself is really good. The characters draw you in. None of them are perfect, and you find yourself genuinely liking them for the good as well as all of their flaws. You start with the main couple Sean and Scarlet. If you are reading the series past the first couple of books, chances are it’s because this couple has drawn you in. Then the author starts to bring in other characters / couples. She tells the story from all of them at one point in time or another. Sean and Scarlet Ryan and Janice
Cortland and Monnique Mike and Cassandra Hazel and Flynn Andrew and Diane I’m a little frustrated that they all seem to have the same story line; as in the couples are together, then they break up, then they are together again. Out of the couples listed above, only one of them hasn’t broken up and gotten back together. And for spoiler reasons, I won’t state which one that is. Maybe this is a normal thing in society. Personally the story lines almost merge together sometimes. Example: 1 of the guys has a paternity issue, later in the series another guy has a paternity issue. It just seems like there are too many characters for each one to have unique problems. Ok, for the bad; and I’m sorry but there is a lot of it. One of the things is kind of stated above, too many characters share the same problems. It gets repetitious after 18 books. The story is still enjoyable so if you can deal with a sense of deja vu, I would still read them. One of the issues I have with the series; and this may be a personal thing that isn’t shared; is that the couple that the series started with becomes almost an after thought. I like the other characters and I’d like to know what happens to them, and what’s going on with them…but I’d prefer to read it through Sean or Scarlet’s perspective. I think in book 18, you get 2 chapters from the main couple, and the rest is from the other characters. While I want to know what happens to them, I’m sick of bouncing back and forth from everyone else’s perspective. I am quickly losing interest in the entire series because when it comes down it to, there are several characters that could disappear and Id be ok with it. The amount of errors in the books are awful. It would be a great drinking game. Find an error, take a drink…you’ll be drunk by the time the book ends (even considering each book gets shorter and shorter, but stays the same price). On one page, there was a character named Bryan; but the author calls him Brian, then Bryan, Brian, Bryan back and forth I think 6 times on ONE PAGE!!! How did the publishing company not catch that? At first I honestly thought there were 2 people with the same name. I have a business degree, and am the last person to critique or edit a book. I love my run on sentences and misspelled words…BUT I am not trying to sell anyone a book for $5 a piece. 1 or 2 errors per book are understandable. I know that sometimes when a book gets converted from print to e-format there are some things overlooked. One of the books was close to 180 pages and I had over 130 errors highlighted. These were just very obvious errors. I’m sure someone with a literature degree/background could have picked it apart even further. The errors are a huge thing for me because they stop the flow of the book. You stop yourself mid-sentence to re-read and make sure it said what you think it said. I started highlighting each error; I think you would be surprised at how many are in each book. Pages, errors and price are big cons for me. The first book was free and it was over 300 pages. That got me hooked on the story. The second book was $3.99 and it had 259 pages. The 3rd book was the first at the $4.99 price point and it had 347 pages. To me, this is about average for a book. Book 4 was the first book that had less than 200 pages, and there hasn’t been a book since that has had over 200. It seems like the further you get in the series, the less you get in a book. Books 4 - 18 are all $4.99 each. Honestly, with the amount of errors in each book, and the amount of
pages…$1 is the highest amount I think each book should cost. If the errors were fixed, I would go as high as $1.99 but not $5 per book, maybe combine 2 or 3 books together and it would be worth the $5 price point. Below I have listed each book in the series and the number of pages each one has. 1 - 311 pages 2 - 259 3 - 347 4 - 189 5 - 181 6 - 190 7 - 179 8 - 163 9 - 179 10 - 147 11 - 160 12 - 150 13 - 138 14 - 138 15 - 149 16 - 144 17 - 144 18 - 141 Prequel - 28 pages Honestly, if you want a good story line, and you are ok with the books becoming smaller and the amount of errors…this is a good series to try. By Amazon Customer Getting annoyed! Book #8 changed the last name of the couple. Preston to Prescott. Is no one editing these books. Book 7 had horrible typos and mistakes and I was annoyed that book 8 was no different. By Julie Kirby I have read this series since the beginning, and have loved Sean and Scarlet. We catch up with the guys at the very end of Sean and Scarlet's wedding, we join them on their honeymoon! Where they stayed holed up for days! LOL, they are such and insatiable couple. I just love the closeness of the group, and we tough on how close they all have been in the past! incestuous covers it! Scarlet has a great attitude, she is so loving, caring, giving and doesn't quite see it!
Her relationship with Janice gets better, as it does with Monique. Sean worships Scarlet, and isn't afraid to show anyone who looks. I loved the scene in the Office lobby when Scarlet and Janice went to visit Sean's place of work. Loved how passionate Janice is when her friends are wronged! I dislike Sean's Mom, what a class a bitch, I am so glad that Sean finally stood up to her for once, he was right to do so, as his wife should be first and foremost in his life! Ryan and Janice, Cortland and Monique really showed their support of Sean and Scarlet by upping sticks and moving to NYC with them. Poor Scarlet so worried about putting on weight, every girl goes through this, but Sean did all the right things. We touch on each couple at times where they are having slight problems, and thankfully these problems disappear after a few days! I really think Ryan over reacted when he overheard Scarlet and Janice talking, I wanted to slap him upside the head, and tell him to grow up. Scarlet was trying to protect both Janice and Ryan but he was so blinded by the hatred for the lies that he pushed Scarlet away, as she took the brunt of his anger! I felt so sorry for her. Glad that Ryan and Janice cleared the air. I do believe we are getting another installment in this series and so cant wait! You know how to write a story that sucks you in and doesn't let you go!
