New Vampire twist on love By Melissa @ just one opinion I got this book as an ARC as part of a book tour from the author.. Bastian made a pact with the people of Willows Creek 200 hundred years ago, he would keep the towns people safe from the rogue vampires who come to the town looking for destruction and death. In return for the towns people living safe, one young person has to act as a vampire concubine and Bastian's people are able to walk around freely. The year has some for the short list of teenagers born on a particular year to wait and see if there name will be called and if their life as they know it be over. Sabine is the chosen and she is far from happy. She had dreams of being an artist travelling the world and going to college, she did not want to give up her dreams, to be locked in a mansion as somebody's meal for her mortal life. Remy is the prodigy of Bastian, when is maker calls he comes...But he's far from happy about being chained to a small town let alone a "wife" who is mortal and hundreds of years younger then he is.. I mean they couldn't possibly have anything in common! I enjoyed this read, I haven't read a paranormal romance in a while but this seemed to hit the spot with a New Adult type feel to the writing. Remy and Sabine where very entertaining with there angst and whit. Remy doesn't want to be tied to Sabine any more then she does.. However when they are forced to spend time together their fondness grows.. This book is definitely a new take on the generic vampire love and it was refreshing.
While I did find Sabine immature at times with her actions and childish ways I really did like her.. I also found it intriguing that she could hold her own with a 400 year old Vampire. As a couple I love these characters and watching there emotions grow and feelings develop... Remy is HOT he makes himself out to be a jerk, a pig but he's the first to be riding in on his white horse to save this young woman... nobility he tries to hide. I'm excited to find out more of the secrets of Willow's Creek and to see how this story continues.. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. I love vampires! All things Vampires! Such ego driven little blood suckers! By Cybill Richey This is possibly the beginning of a great paranomal romance series. It has vampires in this story but I suspect we will see other creatures in subsequent books. In 1798 Thomas Crowley struck a deal with Bastien Florien for protection of the settlement Willow Creek. Bastien promised protection from other worldly creatures that have invaded the township and would contiue to invade because of something mystical in Willow Creek. The arrangement is that every 10 years someone is chosen to be fed on in return for protection. Sabine Crowley is in the runnning to be the next blood host. This is not an honor, this is a curse. She will give up her life and her dreams because of a pact that was made. She is chosen on her 18th birthday, she will be the blood host for Remington. There is no escaping, there is no running this is her destiny. Remington is a 400 year old vampire, sired by Bastien. He is content with his immortality the way it is. He is summoned by Bastien and made aware that it is his time to return to Willow Creek. He is introduced to Sabine and the two despise each other immediately. Remy fully enjoys making Sabine angry and is sure his time with her will be torturous. Throughout we watch the relationship change and grow between Sabine and Remy. We see life and death circumstances, we see that there are secrets buried in Willow Creek that need to be uncovered. This is Sabine and Remy's story, proving that sometimes arrange relationships are created in the stars. But it also opens the door to wondering what is really hiding in Willow Creek! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. and to have her parents support her love of art By RomanceLover Review Blog I picked up this book, spacing out what it was about, just knowing it was next on my TBR list and WOW, I could not put this book down, and I didn't want to! Sabine, is a normal girl, or really that's all she wants. Just a normal life. To play sports, have her parents push her to get straight A's, dream and plan out which college she will go to after college, and to have her parents support her love of art. But Willow Creek has a history, and the founders have made a promise still effecting the lives of everyone 200 years later. Sabine has been chosen, on her 18th birthday, as the next sacrifice for the town to the vampire lord, as a food source, to keep the rest of the town safe for another 10 years. Remy Has been called back to Willow Creek, a place that makes him wish he could be anywhere else except there. He learns he is to be paired with Sabine until the end of her life. He is less than thrilled, but when Sabine plans to run away just before her 21st birthday he follows. Sabine's plans
to run are ruined, but the events that happen over the following few days surprise both her and Remy. Wow! Love this book! I love the attraction between Sabine and Remy. I love that it's not a case of "insta-love" but rather how they each act in a way that feels natural for their character, and then realize that they have an attraction to the other, then watching them deal with it. Their attraction builds over time, they deal with it over time. I loved Sabine's sassy attitude, and Remy's humor and how he likes to mess with Sabine. Sabine's fight between her attraction for Remy and her desire for independence battle throughout the book, I think most people have faced contrasting feelings and they are not always easy to deal with. Her conflict felt real. This book will leave you Craving more! I can't wait to read more from this wonderful author! See all 81 customer reviews...
