The mother's manual By VINCENS True to Lisa's comfortable, put-you-at-ease style of helping and teaching mothers, this book is a gem! It's informative and insightful and real, a book that stands out from the rest, one every mother should own, read over and over and use as her motherhood manual. I'm a mother of 6 and my copy is full of dog-eared pages and highlighted parts. I plan to read it again and again. It's not just band aid fixes to the woes of motherhood. It's a get-the-root-of-the-problem, lift you up, get you where you'll be the best you can be, in life and as a mother. Her writing style is descriptive, full of analogies and completely feminine without being flowery, it's like chatting with a good friend. Lisa has an amazing way of explaining complex concepts so that you have a complete understanding not only of that concept, but how to apply to your own life. I was expecting this book to be amazing, and my expectations were exceeded! I'll definitely be gifting and recommending this book. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. A guide to keep, use and treasure By expatmama I have taken one of Lisa's classes online, and I knew if she ever wrote a book, I would want a copy on my bedside table. If you are a mother in need of better self-care, Replenish is both a gift and a guide that you can turn to again and again.

Replenish is written for mothers, but it is not a parenting book. Lisa's focus is a reminder that underneath the mother is a valuable woman who deserves care and attention too. Throughout the book, she gives realistic, practical strategies for self-care, exploring areas from relaxing moments, rest, quiet and breathing techniques to nourishing foods and joyful movement. Lisa writes from a place of compassion and honesty, which feels so refreshing. She is open about all the challenges and paradoxes of motherhood. There is no judgement implied or felt, just a plain understanding that yes, motherhood is wonderful but it is also very tough. The daily work of motherhood wears on one's body, heart and mind, which is why we need to replenish our inner wells. Reading this book, I felt I had been chatting with a girlfriend who had been in the trenches, had found her way out and was offering a helping hand to lift me up too. I truly appreciated how I never got the sense that these strategies and suggestions were only possible in someone else's perfect circumstances, nor does Lisa herself pretend to be perfect. Mothers can feel judged and criticized enough (often quite thoroughly all by ourselves), and that simply wasn't present in this book. As soon as I started reading Replenish, I began asking girlfriends about forming a book club with it. By MumToOne This book was such a timely read for me. Being a mom and loving it, but feeling, like many of us moms do, overwhelmed, tired and wanting to find a way to take better care of myself I couldn't have asked for a better book than Replenish! Replenish is written by a mom who has the knowledge that comes with being a mom of three little ones. Equally important is the fact that she has the science background and supports her suggestions with facts and data; you know that what she has to say will actually work and make a difference. It is a readable book with lots of real life examples from the author that are very easy to relate to, funny and that make the book an engaging read. What was most valuable to me was how doable the suggestions that Lisa makes are for all of us who are short on time. Upon reading the first few pages I already had tangible, doable ideas to help start filling my tank back up as a mom and a woman. And the more I read, the more ideas I gathered. At the end of each chapter she nicely summarized her main points/action plans which was one of the features of the book I liked best. Each chapter went into depth with stories, facts, and explanations that were really engaging and helpful and then at the end she made sure to bullet point the main take away points so that us tired mamas could remember exactly what it was we need to do! A great and engaging read by a knowledgeable author that gives real life suggestions for getting that spark back in our lives that so many of us mothers tend to lose in the craziness that is raising children.
