"American health is getting worse and people believe getting old equates to getting ill. That is absolutely not true! You are empowered to be as healthy as you want. You DO NOT have good or bad genes. The problem is that genes are being turned ON or OFF which causes health or illness. What turns our genes on and off? How can we control these switches? These are the main topics of this book. Two new fields of biology, and how they impact the quality of your life, are explored in the book. Epigenetics is the study of how our genes are switched on and off. Cancer genes can either be turned on or off. Tumor fighting genes can be turned on or off. Nutrigenomics is the study of how different foods cause epigenetic switches on our genes. It is a mapping of which foods switch on or off which genes. The state of your health is not random nor is it luck. It is the sum of all the decisions you make in life. It includes which foods you eat and don’t eat, how you think, what you believe in as well as the physical environment you live in. Learn how you can control these life changing switches to improve your health, lifestyle and mental attitude. Each of us is responsible for our own health. Our doctors and government are not responsible. Make the right decisions and live a better life. The choice is yours! " ● ● ● ●

Eat Healthier to Live a Richer Fuller Life By Rebecca of Amazon "Genes simply respond to data coming from our environment." ~ pg. 42 "Food for Thought" is a very interesting book that deals with the issue of preventing disease instead of just treating disease. Most doctors won't tell how to avoid illness, they only treat the symptoms - most times not even curing the disease. George J. Febish and Jo Anne Oxley believe the right course is to eat a vegetarian diet. They also encourage the reader to stay positive, be forgiving and to make lifestyle changes that will lead to a healthier life. Getting cancer, being obese, having heart problems and getting diabetes does not have to be in your future. The authors give tips and tools for changing your way of thinking, therefore changing your life. If you loved biology in school that will help you while reading this book since then you will be able to visualize what the authors are saying. This book also discusses Nutrigenomics and Epigenetics. ~The Rebecca Review 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Entertaining and makes you think about things in a different way By Ali Julia This book is about Epigenetics, a study how our genes switch on and off. The authors make a case that your health is not a random event but is controlled by the decisions and choices each person makes which in turn control the person's DNA. George Febish has a computer industry background and compares our DNA to a computer program: DNA is like computer hardware and the environment (food and our decisions) is like computer software running on the hardware. Both contribute to how good and problem free the overall "program" is. Here is a summary of the content: 1. Introduction talks about the DNA model 2. Chapter 1 covers history of life on earth, genome project, and the cell as a computer theory 3. Chapter 2 talks about Epigenetics from basics to the computer analogy of the author 4. Chapter 3 discusses Nutrigenomics from basics to advanced topics 5. Chapter 4 covers the environment in you are what you eat spirit 6. Chapter 5 talks about the effects of positive and negative thinking 7. Chapter 6 talks about effects of our believes 8. Chapter 7 makes a case for vegetarianism 9. Chapter 8 cover effects of blood sugar levels 10. Chapter 9 discussed how to take control of your thoughts and actions

11. Chapter 10 talks about misinformation we get from marketing 12. Chapter 11 develops a plan for your happiness and health 13. Chapter 12 talks about pluses and minuses of medical drugs 13. Chapter 13 covers sugar addition 14. Chapter 14 covers protein in our diets 15. Chapter 15 is all about Diseases and cures 16. Chapter 16 talks about Stress and how to reduce it 17. Chapter 17 conclusion that puts it all together The book ends with 6 indexes 1. Recommended books 2. Thoughts to remember 3. Ideas to remember from this book 4. Top 10 deceases 5. Famous vegetarians 6. Article that inspired this book "Does DNA Use Remote COM?" Whether you agree or disagree with various theories in the book, the bottom line is that the book makes you think about things in a different way. I found the book entertaining! Ali Julia review 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Editor needed By Sharon G Perkins The first couple of chapters of this book were informative(hence the 2 stars). The relatively new field of epigenetics is very facinating. Unfortunately the book was riddled with grammatical errors and typos which made it appear less than professional and also a difficult read. Also, after about the third chapter it assumed a rather preachy tone (don't eat meat, eat your vegetables, we are an unhealthy country, etc.) and deviated almost completely from the topic of epigenetics and nutronomics. No in depth information at all. After checking the references, I was surprised that a very large number of references were greater than 10 years old. Not current. Save your money.
